Playcare Associate

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This position will be responsible for providing a safe, supervised play environment for the children of YMCA members while their guardian is on the premises.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Be responsible for safety and wellbeing of children ages 3 months through 12 years. Monitor childrens whereabouts at all times.
2. Maintain a safe play environment by managing safety protocols, supervision guidelines, sign-in/out procedures, and maintaining a clean, organized workspace.
3. Be enthusiastic and contribute creative ideas, and help organize group activities such as crafts, physical, and intellectual games.
4. Serve as a resource to members, parents, and the community and provide accurate information regarding the YMCA Playcare programs and services.
5. Ensure a professional appearance and environment of program area.
6. Treat all children, parents, and co-workers with respect and dignity.
7. Encourage the social, physical, and mental growth of the children in Playcare.
8. Supervise volunteers who are on duty.
9. All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Must be at least 16 years of age or older
• Previous experience working with children preferred.
• Desire and ability to work with children of all ages, to include infants 3 months and older.
• Desire and ability to develop positive, authentic relationship with children and families from diverse backgrounds.
• CPR, First Aid and AED certification required within the first 30 days of hire.
• Child Abuse Prevention Training required within first 30 days of hire.
