PCH School Nurse - Greencastle Schools

Job Summary

Provides health services in schools. Their goal is to treat student injuries or illnesses and advise students, their parents or guardians, and staff on health issues. School Nurses are trained to support in-person treatment or treatment through telehealth supported by local providers 

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Providing healthcare to students with acute or chronic health problems
• Conducting screenings and writing referrals for health services (e.g. Vision and dental screenings)
• Monitoring health plans for students
• Support of medication management for students with ongoing health needs
• Support and operation of telehealth program to connect students with local providers
• Follow the developed health plans for students with chronic illnesses and disabilities
• Educate students and staff on healthy habits, such as proper nutrition and hygiene
• Keep track of students’ vaccination records
• Update students’ medical history
• Ensure school environment is safe for children and school staff (e.g. prevention of communicable diseases)
• Performs other duties as assigned

Job Requirements:

• HS Graduate or equivalent, 18+ years of age
• 1-2 years of related experience
• Prior medical assistant experience with pediatrics in a healthcare or school setting
• Ability to support medication management for various students
• Prior experience and knowledge of health screening and tracking              

Preferred Skills:

• Certified medical assistant certificate
