Special Effects Makeup Artist

Join our team and become the magic behind the monsters! We’re searching for a passionate, skilled Special Effects Makeup Artist who thrives in a fast-paced, creative environment. In this role, you’ll be responsible for turning our talented actors into unforgettable creatures, monsters, and characters that haunt our guests’ nightmares while working alongside a spirited team of artists and performers.

What You’ll Do:

  • Makeup Application:

    • Apply professional-grade makeup to actors, including basic, advanced, and prosthetic applications

    • Utilize various techniques such as airbrushing, hand-painting, and prosthetic application

    • Adhere to established character designs while adding creative touches when appropriate

    • Ensure makeup is durable and can withstand long hours of actor performance

  • Time Management:

    • Work efficiently to complete makeup applications within strict time constraints

    • Manage multiple actors' makeup needs simultaneously

    • Prioritize touch-ups and reapplications throughout the night

  • Station Management:

    • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized makeup station

    • Properly care for and organize all makeup supplies and tools

    • Monitor inventory and report supply needs to supervisors

    • Adapt the station setup to accommodate different locations or space constraints

  • Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work closely with the costume department to ensure cohesive character looks

    • Communicate effectively with actors about makeup processes and care

    • Collaborate with other makeup artists to maintain consistency across characters

    • Provide input on makeup designs and techniques to improve overall haunt aesthetics

  • Adaptability:

    • Quickly adjust makeup designs or techniques based on actor's needs or last-minute changes

    • Problem-solve makeup issues that may arise during performances

    • Be prepared to work in various environmental conditions, including low light and outdoor settings

  • Training and Development:

    • Participate in pre-season training to learn specific character designs

    • Stay updated on new makeup products and techniques relevant to haunt applications

  • Professionalism:

    • Maintain a positive and calm demeanor during high-pressure situations

    • Respect actors' personal space and comfort during makeup application
