Job Summary
As a Makeup Artist, you will play a pivotal role in bringing our haunted attraction’s most chilling visions to life. You will be responsible for applying advanced makeup, prosthetics, and special effects to transform performers into unforgettable characters that captivate and haunt our guests. Working in a fast-paced, creative environment, you will collaborate closely with a talented team of artists and performers to ensure every look is both innovative and immersive.
This position requires a passion for the macabre, strong technical skills in special effects makeup, and the ability to thrive under tight deadlines. Your artistry will be integral to the overall guest experience, making you the creative force behind the magic—and the nightmares—of our attraction.
Requirements
Transformative Makeup Artistry:
- Craft striking, professional-grade makeup looks for actors based on look book and creatively designed characters
- Employ a variety of techniques—including airbrushing, hand-painting, and intricate prosthetic work—to bring characters to life.
- Faithfully execute established character designs while infusing your own creative flair where appropriate.
- Ensure every makeup application is durable enough to withstand hours of intense performance and movement.
Masterful Time Management:
- Work swiftly and efficiently to complete complex makeup looks under tight time constraints.
- Juggle multiple actors’ needs at once, prioritizing touch-ups and reapplications throughout the night to keep every character looking their best.
Impeccable Station Management:
- Maintain a pristine, organized, and sanitized workspace at all times.
- Diligently care for and organize all makeup supplies and tools, monitoring inventory and promptly reporting supply needs.
- Adapt your station setup seamlessly to accommodate varying locations and space limitations.
Collaborative Creativity:
- Partner closely with the costume department to ensure every character’s look is cohesive and compelling.
- Communicate clearly with actors about makeup processes and aftercare, ensuring comfort and satisfaction.
- Collaborate with fellow makeup artists to maintain visual consistency and share innovative ideas that elevate the haunt’s overall aesthetic.
Agile Adaptability:
- Respond quickly to last-minute changes or unique actor needs, adjusting designs and techniques on the fly.
- Troubleshoot and resolve makeup challenges that arise during performances, even in demanding environments like low light or outdoor settings.
Continuous Learning and Professionalism:
- Participate in pre-season training to master specific character designs and learn new techniques.
- Stay current with the latest products and trends in special effects makeup for haunted attractions.
- Maintain a calm, positive, and professional demeanor, respecting actors’ comfort and personal space—even during the most high-pressure moments.
