Volunteer – Board of Directors

 

The purpose of AltaOne Federal Credit Union’s Board of Directors is to ensure that the credit union follows its mission and reaches its long-term goals in the best interest of the membership. All members of the Board of Directors are volunteers, elected by the membership at our Annual Meeting.

 

The Board of Directors is responsible for ensuring the members of the credit union are confident in their institution and the way it provides for their financial needs. They provide effective governance and leadership and ongoing oversight to ensure the financial soundness and sustainability of their credit union.

 

Expectations of a Board Member

  • Believe in the credit union’s mission, vision, and philosophy.
  • Have a willingness to learn.
  • Attend regular monthly Board meetings.
  • Actively promote the credit union.
  • Be a team player and act in the best interest of the membership.
  • Able to commit 5-8 hours per month to perform duties.

 

Eligibility

  • Be a member in good standing.
  • No immediate family member is a paid employee of the credit union.
  • Pass background check.

Qualifications

Selection Criteria

The AltaOne Federal Credit Union Board of Directors Nominating Committee will review applications to determine their skill set and alignment with AltaOne’s Strategic Plan, Mission, Vision, and values, as well as their willingness to serve as a Director, Associate Director, or Member of the Supervisory Committee.  Candidates may be contacted during this process to interview.  Interviews are at the discretion of the Nominating Committee.

 

Selection Process

All applications will be reviewed by the Board of Directors Nominating Committee. Once the Nominating Committee reviews submitted applications, they will present a list of potential nominees to the Board of Directors for comment, after which the Nominating Committee will then file its nominations with the Board of Directors Secretary who will forward the nominees to the Vice President of Governance, Audit and Compliance.  Candidates may be contacted during this process to interview.  Interviews are at the discretion of the Nominating Committee.

 

The Vice President of Governance, Audit and Compliance will notify the credit union’s members of their eligibility to vote for potential candidates before the credit union’s Annual Meeting.

 

Terms of Service

Two positions are available with terms of three years, and one position is available with a term of two years.

 

Application Window

Applications to serve on the credit union’s Board of Directors will be received between October 1, 2025, and close of business on November 15, 2025.

 

Note: All positions on the Board of Directors are volunteer positions. Credit unions are not for profit financial cooperatives and board members are unpaid officials.
