Job Objective:
To provide hands-on and classroom instruction to participants who are enrolled in the Automotive Skilled Trades Training Program at Goodwill Industries of Michiana, Inc. This program includes instruction in automotive technician skills and an ASE-aligned curriculum to provide participants with sought-after skills identified by employers in the local community. The Automotive Skilled Trades Instructor will be responsible for providing ASE aligned instruction, developing/facilitating curriculum, teaching classes, record keeping, and recruitment of participants. The Automotive Skilled Trades Instructor will be required to teach the following skills to participants: automotive safety, customer service, automotive repair theory, basic automotive repair, identification/use of basic hand tools/power tools, diagnostic equipment, brakes, steering and suspension, and engine repair. This position requires collaboration with Program Coordinators, Success Coach, Career Navigator and external employer partners. This position reports to Direct of Career and Technical Education who evaluates performance annually.

Essential Job Functions:
- Demonstrated experience as an automotive technician.
- Create and facilitate ASE aligned curriculum with a focus on in demand technical and essential skills.

- Collaborate with the Program Coordinator to organize classes, vet candidates and determine daily training priorities.
- Teach hands-on entry-level automotive technician skills to adults with various skill levels.
- Teach employer expectations of work environment.
- Prepare program participants to obtain employment for positions within the automotive industry .
- Differentiate instruction to ensure participants complete the training program and obtain entry-level ASE credentials.
- Create referral pipelines for participants and employers.
- Build relationships with area employers to hire students upon class completion.
- Serve as an advocate for underserved and justice involved individuals.
- Collaborate with Success Coach and Career Navigator to ensure participant barriers are identified, addressed, and removed.
- Track attendance, class performance, grade assessments and provide timely feedback to participants.
- Maintain participant and company files in accordance with program and grant goals.
- Complete all internal and external assigned trainings and participate in departmental meetings.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
