Overall Responsibility: The Controller role is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations such as general ledger accounting, tax, treasury, technical accounting, and internal controls. Their focus includes regulatory compliance and practices and collaborating with the CFO to develop financial strategies.
The Controller will ensure Arora Engineers has the systems and procedures in place to support effective financial controls and conduct necessary audits including FAR, 401k Plan, Workmans Compensation Insurance and Union Dues. Additionally, the Controller will lead the annual financial audit, and play a key leadership role in tax matters (sales, state, federal, international).
Essential Functions:
- Manage all audits, filings, taxes, and corporate accounting activities
- Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements
- Present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
- Assist leadership in the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain and recommend actions as appropriate
- Assist other Departments (Marketing, Contracts etc) as needed with their financial information requirements
- Partner with the CFO to prepare financial updates and analysis for executive leadership, Board of Directors and investors
- Foster an environment of continuous improvement to identify, develop, and implement process and system changes increase efficiency, ensure monthly reporting, and enhance financial controls
- Oversee tax compliance and strategy in conjunction with the CFO.
- Prepare and follow up on all local tax and information filings that are not specifically performed by the external accounting firm
- Oversee the treasury function, including cash flow forecasting and bank reporting, in partnership with the CFO
- Other duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Manage, train, mentor, and lead the direct reports and staff in the Controller Organisation.
- Attract, develop and retain competent and committed employees.
- Motivate and reinforce teamwork within Finance and across the whole Arora team
- Establish clear performance objectives for the staff overall and for each direct report.
- Conduct staff performance appraisals at intervals determined by HR.
