SUMMARY:

The TOSA will work closely with teachers, administrators, and support staff to implement instructional strategies, provide professional development, and enhance student achievement. This role is designed to improve curriculum alignment, instructional effectiveness, and student engagement. 

JOB DUTIES:

  • Curriculum & Instructional Support – Assist teachers in developing lesson plans, integrating best practices, and aligning instruction with state standards.
  • Professional Development – Lead training sessions, mentor educators, and provide coaching to improve teaching strategies.
  • Student Intervention & Support – Collaborate with staff to create tiered intervention systems for academics and behavior.
  • Data Analysis & School Improvement – Review student performance data, identify trends, and assist in strategic planning to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Parent & Community Engagement – Strengthen family involvement in education through outreach programs and workshops.
  • Specialized Program Coordination – Manage initiatives such as literacy programs, STEAM education, or social-emotional learning.
  • Collaboration with Leadership Teams – Work with site administrators to implement school-wide improvement strategies.
  • Attends all required trainings, including but not limited to PROACT, and has the ability to utilize all techniques learned.
  • Participates in extra-curricular activities (e.g. sports, cultural events, graduation, assemblies, etc.) as required
  • Performs other reasonable related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

In the course of performing this on-site job, the incumbent must be able to lift at least 40 lbs. Frequent sitting, twisting, typing, talking, hearing and repetitive motions. Occasional walking, standing, bending, grasping, pulling, pushing and reaching.

 

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current and Valid California Special Education credential
  • Must have prior experience teaching children with autism
  • Specialized (moderate/severe) California Teaching Credential or Specialized (mild/moderate) California Teaching Credential with authorization to teach students with autism. 
  • Previous experience in curriculum development, instructional coaching or teacher mentorship
  • Ability to pass and utilize PRO-ACT within three months of hire
  • Ability to pass and utilize First Aid and CPR certification within three months of hire
  • Very effective oral and written communication skills
  • Must fulfill all requirements of employment, including clearance of all required background records (e.g. Department of Justice, Child Abuse, California Community Care Licensing, County Sanction List, etc.), professional, physical examination, and drug testing
