We are seeking a Director of Information Technology (IT) who is responsible for setting and executing the IT strategy that supports the delivery of high-quality, patient-centric care. This senior leadership position oversees all aspects of technology planning, implementation, support, and security, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH) and alignment with the organization’s business goals. The Director of IT works cross-functionally with clinical, administrative, and executive teams to optimize IT resources, improve operational efficiency, and support innovations in patient care.

  1. Strategic Leadership & Planning
    • Develop and maintain a comprehensive IT strategy that aligns with the organization’s mission, vision, and objectives.
    • Oversee the selection, implementation, and management of healthcare technologies (EHR/EMR systems, telehealth platforms, clinical decision support tools, etc.).
    • Forecast technology needs, set short- and long-term priorities, and create actionable roadmaps for IT innovation and growth.
  2. IT Operations & Infrastructure
    • Ensure the reliability, scalability, and security of all IT systems, including networks, servers, databases, and cloud environments.
    • Oversee system administration, help desk operations, and technical support teams to maintain high service levels and user satisfaction.
    • Establish and monitor performance benchmarks; implement continuous improvement initiatives in system stability and efficiency.
  3. Regulatory Compliance & Security
    • Ensure adherence to healthcare regulations and privacy standards (HIPAA, HITECH, and other applicable laws).
    • Implement robust cybersecurity strategies to protect sensitive data and infrastructure, including risk assessments, incident response, and disaster recovery plans.
    • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to develop and maintain IT-related policies and procedures.
  4. Budget & Vendor Management
    • Develop and manage the annual IT budget, balancing cost-effectiveness with the need to invest in new technologies and enhancements.
    • Evaluate, negotiate, and manage relationships with external vendors, service providers, and technology partners.
    • Monitor vendor performance to ensure services meet or exceed contractual expectations and support strategic objectives.
  5. Team Leadership & Development
    • Build and lead a high-performing IT team, including recruitment, onboarding, mentorship, and performance evaluation.
    • Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and professional development.
    • Encourage cross-functional collaboration to enhance user training and support for clinical and administrative staff.
  6. Project Management
    • Direct the planning and execution of IT projects, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
    • Apply best practices (e.g., Agile, Waterfall) and standard project management tools to track progress, manage risks, and communicate updates to stakeholders.
    • Coordinate change management efforts to ensure seamless transitions and adoption of new technologies.
  7. Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
    • Act as a key liaison between IT and clinical/administrative leadership, translating complex technical concepts into actionable strategies.
    • Communicate IT initiatives, challenges, and performance metrics to executive leadership and board members.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess technology needs, gather feedback, and enhance overall user experience.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related field (Master’s degree or MBA preferred).
  • 7+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, preferably within the healthcare industry.
  • Proven experience in managing complex IT environments, including EHR/EMR systems, clinical applications, and infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated success in implementing robust security, privacy, and regulatory compliance measures.

  • Ability to mentor and motivate diverse teams and foster a culture of innovation and accountability.

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Expertise in healthcare information systems and interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR).
  • Strong understanding of data privacy, security protocols, and regulatory compliance frameworks (HIPAA, HITECH).
  • Knowledge of networking, cloud technologies, virtualization, and disaster recovery methodologies.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Certifications in relevant domains (e.g., PMP, CISSP, HCISPP, ITIL) are a plus.
