Description

Shipment Planning and Support

  • Manage the planning and support of outbound shipments of customer sales orders and intracompany transfers within budget and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Lead sales order shipment escalation process, in partnership with the Customer Service, Sales and Plant Operations teams.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Sales teams on network design, customer mapping, and distribution schedule optimization within the Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning (SIOP) process.
  • Collaborate with Customer Service and Sales teams to optimize customer receiving requirements and schedules.
  • Manage customer receiving appointment systems, customer logistics data, and scheduling compliance.

 

Distribution Support

  • Collaborate with Plant Operations on outbound schedule planning to optimize Logistics KPIs and budget, balancing customer requirements with local constraints with company goals.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain Planning and Plant Operations on inbound schedule planning, including intracompany transfers and vendor purchase orders.
  • Partner with Plant Operations and Human Resources teams on driver qualifications, hiring and performance management.

 

Transportation Management

  • Manage all logistics vendor accounts, including national lease and rental fleet management, third-party logistics brokers and carriers, fleet services, transportation management systems (TMS) and telematics, and appointment systems.
  • Lead periodic logistics vendor request for proposals and quotes (RFP and RFQ), service level agreement (SLA) performance reviews, and professional services engagements, to control and improve KPIs and budget.
  • Manage network utilization, including third-party logistics (3PL) lanes, fleet and drivers, by leading logistics planning processes and influencing stakeholder decisions within the SIOP process.
  • Manage all logistics incidents, Department of Transportation (DOT) violations, and auto insurance claims, in partnership with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support company leadership and Plant Operations teams with DOT compliance, by proactively managing route scheduling requirements, fleet maintenance programs, and leading ongoing training and internal audits.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of fleet or third-party transportation management
  • Can demonstrate industry knowledge of perishable commodity shipping or food and beverage distribution to major retailers.
  • Experience with network design and optimization, including planning mixed-mode shipments, and developing backhaul, consolidation or cross-docking partnerships.
  • Familiarity with fleet route optimization, TMS, and telematics.
  • Experience with EDI and third-party appointment portals.
  • Familiarity with DOT and commercial vehicle administrative requirements, including UCR, IRP, IFTA, state use taxes and permits, DQ files, CSA scores, and hours of service.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office apps like Outlook, Excel and Sharepoint
