Youth Summer Camp Specialist

What You'll Do:

Specialists serve camp by developing and leading enriching and age-appropriate programming for multiple different age groups at camp. Specialists use their expertise in their specialty area (art, music, dance, athletics, science, etc) to create an experience that allows for camper learning, exploration, and personal growth. 

Specialists report directly to the Youth and Camp Coordinator

2025 Specialists:

  • Create 2-3 programs (in 45-minute blocks) weekly for each camp unit
    • Adapt activities based on ages and abilities of campers
  • Utilize time management and behavior management to successfully engage all campers and staff in programming blocks
  • Delegate tasks, integrate camp staff, and provide clear directions to ensure safety during program and transitions to and from activities
  • Support campers social and emotional well beings through positive interactions and instruction
  • Actively participate alongside campers and staff during programing
  • Attend mandatory staff meetings
  • Coordinate with supervisor and other team members to organize, order, and story program supplies and equipment needed
  • If assigned a specific programming space* - Create and maintain a clean, inviting, and functional programming space
  • Promote the camp values of community, kindness, respect, and sportsmanship through all programs and interactions with campers
  • Additional Operational Tasks
  • Perform additional assigned duties related to camp day efficiency (i.e. lunch monitor, hallway supervision, carpool assistance, etc)

Qualifications

What You'll Bring:

Specialist Candidates

  • Be 20 years of age or older with HS Degree or Equivalent
  • Experience working with children/ Experience working in designated specialty area
  • Experience with activity planning and facilitation
  • Willing to commit to 8 weeks of summer camp plus our Staff Training Week (See schedule below)
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to remain calm and maintain perspective under pressure 
  • Commitment to work collaboratively with others
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing needs
  • Must be enthusiastic and demonstrate and desire to go the extra mile

Schedule:

Monday - Friday
8:00 am - 4:00 pm
Weekly schedule is subject to change depending on the needs of the organization.
