Job Description

Are you looking for an opportunity to level up your career while making your community a better place? San Jose Conservation Corps + Charter School (SJCC+CS) offers a paid 1-year-long workforce development program for young adults aged 18 to 27, empowering them to upskill themselves and their career. In addition to personal and professional development, Corpsmembers gain hands-on experience and training in one or more of the following areas under the direction of a Site Supervisor:

Natural Resource Management Corpsmembers gain skills by working on various conservation and community projects such as: trail maintenance, park management and stewardship, landscaping, wildfire prevention, and more. Projects are primarily local with opportunity to travel for Emergency Response work and deep forest management projects. This is the place to be if you love working outside and getting your hands dirty while learning how to use power tools like chainsaws.

Zero Waste Corpsmembers collect and recycle items like tires, mattresses, containers and electronic waste. They also rescue food from local grocery stores, compost food waste, and conduct zero waste outreach and public education. If you’re passionate about the environment and want to reduce the waste in our landfills, this program is a great fit!

At the end of this program, Corpsmembers will have a foundation of project knowledge, a standard of work ethic, and an understanding of how to apply both to their next job and start their professional career.

All Corpsmembers benefit from:

  • Professional networking

  • Industry-recognized certifications such as CPR, S-212 (chainsaw), HAZWOPER, and more!

  • College or technical education scholarships

  • Help with resume building, interviewing, or enrolling in school
