Compensation: $26.73 - $31.53 per hour, depending on experience
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8am - 4:30pm; occasional evenings and weekends needed. Earlier start time may be required on occasion to complete projects.
Location: Primarily 1560 Berger Drive, some presence needed at 2650 Senter Road.
Travel: 35%

One of the first urban conservation corps in the country, the San Jose Conservation Corps + Charter School was founded in 1987 to empower young adults aged 18 to 27 ("Corpsmembers") to upskill themselves and advance their career in conservation and green spaces. Position Summary:
The Facilities Associate reports to the Vice President of Administration, and may perform construction and maintenance duties under the supervision and direction of the Community Housing Solutions Coordinator. This role plays an important part in ensuring SJCC+CS’ campuses are maintained and welcoming. This position ensures that maintenance requests are fulfilled, and coordinates between Administration and Construction to fulfill obligations.
Job Duties:
Facilities & Maintenance (75%)
- Coordinate fulfillment of facility maintenance requests for both campuses in order of priority set by the Senior Construction Manager.
- Track and update the maintenance request tracking system in a timely manner. Create reports on maintenance, repairs, safety and other occurrences as needed
- At the direction of the Vice President of Administration, coordinate office moves for new and existing staff at all campuses, ensuring efficient and smooth transitions and maintaining detailed records of activities
- Measure square footage of rooms and offices & updates paperwork at both campuses as needed. Communicate updates to Accounting team.
- Assist with keeping campus maps up to date with correct office locations.
- Conduct pre-move inspections to confirm that the space is ready for occupancy and meets all safety and operational standards.
- Coordinate tenant move-in and move-out, ensuring smooth transitions for all parties involved including
- Organizing guided visits of available office spaces to potential tenants
- Coordinating relevant IT, maintenance, and/or security necessities to prepare the space for occupancy.
Vendor Relationships (15%)
- Oversee relationships with and performance of service vendors (janitorial, shredding company, etc.), verifying completion of work and addressing service concerns to the Vice President.
- Schedule and manages emergency repairs with outside vendors
- Vendor communication: regularly monitoring and verifying their work to ensure contracts are upheld
- Order supplies as needed
Construction (10%)
- Perform general indoor and outdoor maintenance duties at both Berger and Senter campuses.
- Complete monthly safety inspection and reports.
- Coordinate with the Safety Coordinator to implement emergency response drills and protocol and ensure Emergency Contact Sheets are updated monthly and stored in the Safety Drills Binder
- Coordinate with maintenance, landscaping, and cleaning contractors to keep the campus clean, safe, and in good working order
- May occasionally assist Construction (general construction tasks) or Zero Waste departments (cut helium tanks, repair / maintenance compost machine)

Work Environment & Requirements
Position requires sitting, standing, balancing or walking on uneven and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, climbing, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, reaching overhead and making repetitive hand movements in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when inspecting work and operating assigned equipment, plus the ability to speak and to hear. The ability to lift, carry, push and pull tools, equipment and supplies weighing up to 80 pounds is required. The incumbent in this position works outdoors in all weather conditions, including wet, hot, cold and may work after dusk. The work frequently involves work with hands in water. The incumbent may use chemicals such as grease and oils, solvents and/or pesticides which may expose the employee to fumes, dust, and air or skin contaminants. The nature of the work requires that the incumbent to use power and noise producing tools and equipment commonly subjecting the incumbent to vibration. Some of these requirements may be accommodated for otherwise qualified individuals requiring and requesting such accommodations.
Equipment Used: hand tools (hammer, screwdriver, wrench, etc.), power tools (electric drill, impact driver, leaf blower, etc.), smart phone, computer and keyboard/mouse.

Employment At-Will
The San Jose Conservation Corps + Charter School is an “At-Will” employer. This means that employment with SJCC+CS is voluntarily entered into and staff members are free to resign at any time. Similarly, SJCC+CS may terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause or prior notice, as it deems appropriate. This at-will employment relationship can be changed only in a written agreement signed by the staff member and the Executive Director of SJCC+CS.
**SJCC+CS IS A MANDATORY COVID-19 VACCINATION EMPLOYER**

If a new hire is in the process of being vaccinated, their start date may be adjusted to a future date after they have been vaccinated.
