Education, Experience, & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering with at least 5-7 years of related, hands-on design and drafting experience.
- Less experience may be acceptable based upon range and depth of experience, education, training, and application knowledge.
- Active and current PE licensure is required, SE licensure preferred.
- The ideal candidate will have experience within regulated industries that involve structural steel design, fabrication, and installation for dynamic equipment and solutions that are installed in new locations and those that are integrated into existing structures.
- Able to recognize and plan for specific safety hazards related to specific jobs and tasks. Specific to shop environment for fabrication prints and processes.
- Mid-to-high-level proficiency with CAD applications for 2D and 3D drafting, design, and modeling (AutoCAD, etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical schematics.
- Proficient in using electrical and mechanical design software to create and assess engineering drawings, with expertise in employing engineering tools to validate designs and resolve issues.
- Strong proficiency with digital administrative tools (MS Office, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, ERP systems, CRM systems, and various other digital applications needed to execute workflows in a service company).
- Experience with service work order fulfillment and supporting processes is highly desirable.

Physical, Functional & Work Conditions
- Position is based at the corporate CC&H office and requires regular in-office attendance. Occasional remote work and travel to customer sites across the Mid-Atlantic and Carlton’s broader footprint are required (approximately 25% of the time, with variations based on project needs).
- Duties are performed in both office and industrial settings. The role may occasionally require work in varying environmental conditions, including hot, cold, humid, or wet environments, and at heights.
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods and use a computer, phone, and other office equipment frequently (up to 75% of the workday).
- Occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds (e.g., tools, materials, or equipment).
- Occasionally bend, stoop, crawl, reach, or twist to assist with installations or inspections.
- Occasionally drive up to 8 hours per day to reach customers or project sites.
- Perform repetitive hand movements such as typing, drafting, or using a mouse frequently.
