Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree for the teaching of non-transferrable courses and/or Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in the subject area preferred. Candidates should also demonstrate the ability to successfully maintain a teaching load involving courses such as Introduction to Computers. Two years’ experience teaching students in higher education. The successful candidate will possess competence and experience to develop, revise, implement and assess the curriculum to ensure that students are acquiring current knowledge, including familiarity with technology used in classroom settings. Candidates must have capability and flexibility to teach in the evening and/or online classes with labs that meet in-person during the day. A shared vision for preparing students for their professional programs and an ability and willingness to use novel teaching techniques and technology to engage today’s learner is essential. Candidates for this position must possess a thorough knowledge of the teaching field, a commitment to high academic standards, a dedication to student success, and excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements, upon approval of the Qualifications Review Committee.
Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the above: (1) law enforcement experience, (2) and/or a Master's degree in Criminology with an emphasis on Criminological Theory and Criminal Behavior, (3) experience teaching courses such as Criminal Behavior, Criminal Typologies, and Criminology Research, and (4) experience teaching at the post-secondary level, preferably at a community college.
