Nurse Aid-Hospital
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The Nurse Aid (NA) provides services to assigned patients in accordance with care plans, facility policies and procedures and at the direction of supervisor(s).
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintains established hospital policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement program, safety, environmental and infection control standards, and protocols
- Maintains a clean, safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for patients and families in accordance with hospital standards.
- Provides general aspects of care that meet psychosocial or physical needs or both simultaneously, within the nursing assistant’s scope of practice.
- Meets communication needs of patients.
- Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Identifies and addresses psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and religious/spiritual needs of patients and family.
- Demonstrates performance reflecting the initiative and responsibility expected of a nursing assistant.
- Assists in admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Maintains confidentiality of protected health information, including verbal, written, and electronic communications.
- Assist with orientation of new employees
- Use proper lifting and body mechanics while delivering care to patients and meet the physical demands of the position.
- Reports changes in a patient’s condition to the patient’s nurse and/or supervisor.
- Maintains a working knowledge of all equipment used in treatment of patients
- Maintains and replaces supplies on unit assigned.
- As a condition of employment, completes all assigned training and skills competency.
- Performs other duties as assigned, within the Nursing Assistant’s scope of practice.
