The Hilltop Service Experience (HSE) Student Director is a crucial part of delivering a successful first-year volunteer program. This position is a fall leadership position with all work occurring between the months of September – November. Prior volunteer experience is a prerequisite for this position, with a preference on students who have participated in the Hilltop Service Experience their first year. The HSE Student Directors will be a crucial connection between the Office of Community-Engaged Learning and the FYS classes, serving as the leader at each first-year service project during the semester. Each Student Director will be paired with 4-5 first year seminar courses and will help lead the pre-service workshop and service project for their respective seminars. The positions will be paid hourly at the college student work rate of $12.00/hour.

Maintain a connection with each of your chosen first-year seminar classes throughout the Hilltop Service Experience

Assist in the instruction of the pre-service workshop, if scheduling allows

Act as the leader at each service project for your respective first-year seminar classes, ensuring good communication with the site leaders and encouraging the first-year students to work hard and have fun

Participate in driver certification training and plan to be one of the drivers on your classes’ service days
