The Vitality Vibe Enhanced Student Interns are key members of the Chesley Health and Wellness Center (CHWC) Team and will report to the Assistant Director of Chesley Health & Wellness Center for Equity, Inclusion, & Wellbeing. The Intern will serve as a student leader demonstrating the impact of peer-to-peer education and will also serve as the Lead Peer Educator for the IC Peers Advocating Toward Health (P.A.T.H.) student organization. The Intern will assist in the coordination of awareness events and health-related prevention and education activities. The Intern will attend, actively participate in, and complete the NASPA Certified Peer Educator training program made up of 8 training modules over a three week cycle. The intern will learn all IC resources and referral processes and receive comprehensive training in order to provide educational presentation and campus events around the health topics of:
- AOD: Alcohol and Other Drugs
- FN: Food and Nutrition
- MEH: Mental and Emotional Health
- PHW: Personal Health and Wellness
- PA: Physical Activity
- SH: Sexual Health
- V: Violence Prevention
The Intern will be required to attend weekly meetings with the Assistant Director of CHWC and Chesley Health and Wellness Center team meetings when needed.Â
Essential Responsibilities:Â Â
- Serve as a student leader / model healthy behavior.
- Gain competent working knowledge of all training topics.
- Attend all orientation and training meetings.
- Maintain weekly office hours each semester.
- Plan and conduct one training topic specific workshop / presentation a month.
- Participate in Tabling events and create health impact and wellness displays.
- Facilitate trainings and discussions using an intersectional, trauma-informed, survivor-centered lens
- Attend weekly staff meetings
- Actively lead outreach and education
- Participate in the design and implementation of new programs and sustainability measures
- Serve as an approachable and available role model for all students throughout their Illinois College experience.
- Serve as an advocate for the interests, needs and rights of a healthy student lifestyle.
- Foster an environment that helps all students develop and maintain strong identities as IC community members.
- Reflect upon your experiences and job performance and complete evaluation/assessment tools to foster your learning and leadership development.
Compensation: $15/hour (Internship Credit Eligible)
