Job Description:

  • Lead and develop the design-to-manufacturing handoff process to ensure smooth transfer of products from R&D to production, including all necessary documentation, process validation, and tooling readiness.
  • Define, build, and maintain the Product Lifecycle Control (PLC) process, including stage gate criteria, validation checklists, quality checkpoints, and cross-functional reviews.
  • Manage and support third-party vendors and contract manufacturers, ensuring alignment on quality standards, DFM compliance, and production ramp plans.
  • Collaborate with design engineering on DFM/DFA initiatives, providing feedback and driving manufacturability improvements early in product development.
  • Lead manufacturing process development for AGV systems, including assembly, integration of electromechanical components (motors, sensors, PLCs, batteries), and functional testing.
  • Establish and maintain manufacturing quality systems such as PFMEAs, control plans, and root cause corrective action (RCCA) processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives targeting yield, throughput, cost reduction, and defect elimination.
  • Develop and manage a team of manufacturing and quality engineers, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and operational excellence.
  • Partner with Supply Chain and Quality teams to implement supplier quality programs, including qualification, audits, and corrective action management.
  • Utilize ERP, PLM, and MES systems to ensure accurate data flow and process documentation.
  • Develop and maintain key manufacturing and quality metrics to monitor process effectiveness, product quality, and program progress throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Implement data-driven reporting tools and dashboards to provide real-time visibility, enabling continuous improvement and informed decision-making across teams.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering; Master’s preferred
  • 15 plus years of progressive manufacturing engineering experience in robotics, AGVs, or complex electromechanical systems. 
  • Proven experience developing and owning Product Lifecycle Control (PLC) or Stage Gate processes. 
  • Strong background in design-for-manufacturability (DFM/DFA), new product introduction (NPI), and manufacturing process development. 
  • Demonstrated success managing third-party vendors and contract manufacturers, including supplier quality programs. 
  • Hands-on experience with electromechanical assembly, PLC integration, and automated testing in a production environment. 
  • Solid understanding of quality systems and tools: PFMEA, Control Plans, 8D, 5 Why, CAPA. 
  • Experience working in ISO 9001 or similar quality-certified environments. 
  • Leadership experience managing cross-functional teams and driving results in a fast-paced, innovative environment. 
  • Proficiency with ERP/PLM software (SAP, Arena, Oracle, or similar) and manufacturing process documentation tools. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to influence at all levels. 
  • Six Sigma or Lean certification (Black Belt preferred). 
  • Familiarity with AGV technologies: motion control, battery systems, sensors, embedded controls. 
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP), statistical analysis tools (Minitab, JMP), and quality/risk management software (FMEA Studio). 
  • Knowledge of manufacturing automation and Industry 4.0 principles.
