Compensation: Full-time Salary, Depending upon experience

Location: Broken Sound Club - 2401 Willow Springs Dr, Boca Raton, Florida 33496

 

Job Summary:

Responsible for overseeing the maintenance, operation, and management of the golf course grounds and related facilities. The Golf Course Superintendent ensures optimal playing conditions through best agronomic practices and effective leadership of the grounds crew, while maintaining high standards of safety, environmental responsibility, and member satisfaction.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Direct and coordinate maintenance activities for all golf course grounds, including turf care, bunkers, greens, tees, fairways, irrigation systems, and landscaping.
  • Develop and implement turf management programs for all playing surfaces.
  • Supervise and schedule staff, including groundskeepers, spray technicians, and equipment operators.
  • Ensure all areas of the course are maintained in pristine condition, providing championship-level playing conditions.
  • Inspect golf course daily and identify issues related to turf health, irrigation, pest control, or drainage.
  • Operate and oversee the use, care, and maintenance of turf equipment and machinery.
  • Develop, oversee, and maintain course irrigation systems and schedules.
  • Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides in accordance with safety standards and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain detailed records on chemical usage, irrigation logs, and course conditions.
  • Coordinate course setup with Golf Operations team for tournaments and events.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate maintenance staff to ensure a high-performing and professional team.
  • Collaborate with club management on budgets, capital improvements, and project planning.
  • Promote environmental stewardship and sustainability practices across the property.
  • Represent the values and standards of Broken Sound Club in all aspects of course presentation and staff management.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the golf course maintenance team, including assistant superintendents, irrigation technicians, equipment operators, and laborers.
  • Reports staff performance to Management for coaching, development, and recognition as necessary.
  • Ensures safety training and professional development of all team members.

 

Qualifications

Education & Work Experience Requirements:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Turf Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in golf course maintenance, with at least two (2) years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of turfgrass management, irrigation systems, and pest/disease control.
  • Proficiency with modern maintenance equipment and technologies.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, reach, kneel, crouch, and lift. This role requires working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions, including heat, humidity, rain, and sun.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud due to machinery and outdoor conditions.
