JOB TITLE: Graphic Designer/Team Leader

It is the policy of Job Squad that there shall be a description to provide essential information about the work activities to be performed and specifications, which shall identify education, experience, and skill requirements relevant to adequate performance in the position as described. PURPOSE: A graphic designer creates visual concepts to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, educate, and captivate audiences. They combine art and technology to communicate through images and page layout. The employee would be familiar with screen printing, DTF (Direct-to-Film), sublimation and vinyl applications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ability to train and inspect the crew's work. Ability to train and teach staff appropriate work skills/behaviors and interpersonal skills. Must have ability to work independently and have problem solving skills, flexibility, adaptability, basic math skills. Must be able to follow and communicate both written and verbal instructions Must have the ability to prompt and motivate employees. Must have tact, diplomacy and sensitivity to the needs of people with disabilities. Must be able to make quick decisions, use good judgement and perform crisis intervention with people with disabilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Must have: A high school diploma and at least two (2) years’ experience in graphic design. The ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities. A self-motivated individual, who is able to follow directions, work independently, and is able to problem solve. The ability to use a computer. Dependable means of transportation, a valid driver’s license, at least 5 years of clear driving record and experience and be willing to travel to contract and office locations as needed. Practical knowledge of screen printing, DTF, and vinyl production processes is required. Have the understanding of color separations, vectorization, and file preparation for print. Strong communication skills required as contact with multiple departments is possible. Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Team-oriented mindset with a positive, solution-driven attitude. Must pass drug screening and background checks (WV Cares and Federal and background checks) and maintain good standing for the duration of employment, completing recertifications periodically.
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE: The Graphic Designer/Team Leader must have: knowledge and understanding of how graphic design systems are used and maintained. Technical knowledge related to computer applications. Working knowledge of Adobe Creative cloud, specifically: Illustrator (vector design), InDesign (layout and typesetting), and Photoshop (image editing and composition). Preferred qualifications: knowledge of RIP software or production workflow tools. A background in branding, logo creation, or custom apparel design. Have interest in growing with a company that values creativity, craftsmanship, and collaboration.
GOODWILL/HUMAN RELATIONS SKILLS: Must have: The ability to prompt and motivate others to do their jobs. Tact and diplomacy to encourage people toward a specific goal. This person has much customer and public contact and must interact professionally with people, disabled and non-disabled. The crew leader should be aware of and responsive to the needs and challenges faced by individuals with disabilities.
Duties/Responsibilities/Competencies:
- Design high-quality graphics for apparel, signage, and marketing materials
- Create and prepare print-ready files for screen printing, DTF, sublimation and vinyl production
- Utilize Adobe Illustrator for vector-based artwork and InDesign for layout-driven projects
- Collaborate closely with production staff to optimize designs for each output method
- Ensure all designs are consistent with brand guidelines and meet project specifications
- Adapt and repurpose existing artwork across multiple formats and substrates
- Must be available to give presentations and attend events as a Job Squad representative and promote the capabilities of individuals with disabilities
- Performs other duties as assigned or as necessary in emergency situations
- Attends training and meetings as assigned
