Position Title: AFL Driver - CDL A or B Driver
Department: Residential - Operations
Shift: Full Time 6:00am – 4:00pm
Position Summary
The AFL Driver is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of Basin Disposal vehicles to complete assigned routes, collect and transport materials, and provide reliable service to customers. This role requires strict adherence to safety standards, traffic regulations, and company procedures while maintaining a clean and hazard-free work environment. AFL Drivers are expected to operate independently, support team members when needed, and represent Basin Disposal with professionalism and a strong commitment to customer service.
Strategic Work:
- Make safety a priority at all times
- Be courteous with all customers, both internal and external
- Report any concerns with equipment, route(s) or customer(s) to a Lead or Manager
- Clock in at the start and end of the scheduled shift
- Report to work as scheduled and wear a clean employee uniform
- Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Tactical Work/Tasks:
- Continuously meet driver expectations and requirements, i.e., pre/post trip, fuel and wash truck, VIR, Customer Tags, Radio usage, and secure load,
- Operate trucks and equipment in accordance with company procedures and standards
- Comply with all safety standards and requirements
- Report any safety or quality concerns to supervisor
- Maintain all CDL driver qualifications and valid driver’s license
- Maintain an acceptable MVR – Motor vehicle Record
- Participate in on-the-job training to learn to operate other trucks and/or equipment
- Assist in mapping routes and use route books to ensure consistency and timeliness
- Follow oral and/or written instructions
- Observe legal and defensive driving practices
- Work independently and perform duties without close supervision
- Meet all contractual obligations for collection and disposal
Work Schedule and Breaks
- Schedules may include holidays based on operational needs.
- Drivers will take 30 minutes per shift for lunch
- Rest at appropriate times; two – 15-minute breaks
Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
- Typically performed in the field, which requires travel daily from site to site
- The position involves work outdoors on a year-round basis and is subject to extreme weather conditions.
- May be exposed to waste, including blood-borne pathogens, insects, animals and other exterior hazards.
- The noise level is moderate to loud.
- Sit, stand, walk, bend, reach with arms and hands at or above shoulders, kneel and stretch, and the ability to climb into or exit a truck and/or other equipment.
- Lift, push, carry and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 lbs. on a routine basis, and up to 90 lbs. as needed using proper lifting techniques.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to include repetitive grasping and reaching.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: 1–2 years of relevant driving or delivery experience preferred.
- Licensing/Certification: Valid driver’s license with acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), current DOT medical card, CDL qualifications maintained at all times.

$29.03 - $32.25
