Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  including the following.  Other duties as assigned.

 

  1. Explains procedures and treatments to patients to gain cooperation, understanding, and alleviate any apprehension.
  2. Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved clinical techniques.
  3. Observes patient, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies physician of patient’s conditions, reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents reported by the patient.
  4. Takes pulse, blood pressure, weight and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assesses condition of patient, and records findings within EMR.
  5. Ensures all needed information for assessment of patient is available to physician.
  6. Responsible for life saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols.
  7. Initiates a patient education plan according to the needs of the patient, as prescribed by the physician, including patient and family instruction.
  8. Schedules diagnostic and invasive procedures when ordered by the physician.
  9. Schedule all patients’ procedures and tests outside of the office.
  10. Answers all calls from other doctor’s offices and schedules procedures outside of the office.
  11. Answers all patient calls in reference to test, results, medications and/or any patient concerns about health within the same day.
  12. Travels to satellite offices as needed
  13. Maintains confidentiality while working with patient’s insurance companies on a daily basis
  14. Must have good working knowledge of all other office duties

Qualifications

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

  1. Education:  High School Diploma or equivalent and Medical Assisting National Certification
  2. Language:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals.  Ability to speak effectively to patients and employees.
  3. Personal Job Related Skills:  Typing.  Maintain filing systems.  Ability to work within and document within EMR system (Nextgen). Telephone proficiency and proper etiquette.  Working knowledge of operating personal computers and knowledge of general clerical duties.  Effective verbal and written communications skills.  Ability to meet and interact with people.  Maintain confidentiality.
  4. Reasoning Ability:  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
  5. Computer Skills:  Basic knowledge of word processing and medical management software.
  6. Licensure, Certification, or Registry:  Nursing license or Nationally Certified MA
  7. Experience:  Prior Work Experience or Externship is preferred.
  8. Technical Training:  Graduate of accredited nursing program or Medical Assistant program. Current License in good standing. Current BLS certification.
  9. Physical & Mental Requirements:  Duties of position require intermittent walking and sitting, use of fingers and hands.  Some bending, stooping, and reaching are required.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
