Job Summary
The Dental Hygienist is responsible for hygiene assessment and the development of a dental hygiene plan. Specifically, they are responsible for oral prophylaxis (teeth cleaning and deep scaling) and application of decay-preventing agents such as topical fluoride and pit and fissure
sealants. Their services are aimed at prevention of oral disease and preservation of natural teeth. As part of their work, the Dental Hygienist may polish teeth and remove stains, dental plaque, and calculus. They may also take and expose oral x-rays and provide nutritional and preventive oral hygiene instructions.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities
- Maintains proper, detailed, and accurate records of all services provided
- Under direct supervision of a licensed dentist:
- Administer local anesthetic
- Conduct preventive and therapeutic interventions including oral prophylaxis, scaling, and root planning
- Apply topical, therapeutic, and sub-gingival agents for the control of caries and periodontal disease
- Take impressions for bleaching trays and apply and activate agents with non-laser, light- curing devices
- Take impressions for bleaching trays and place of in-office, tooth-whitening devices
- Without supervision, the hygienist may:
- Provide educational services
- Conduct oral health training programs
- Conduct oral health screenings
- Refer any screened patient with possible oral abnormalities to a dentist for a comprehensive exam, diagnosis, and treatment plan
- For any public health program created by federal, state, or local government entity, provide dental hygiene preventive services in addition to oral screenings, including but not limited to application of fluorides and pit and fissure sealants
- Provide quality care to the patients of DAP Health, within the scope of practice outlined by state and/or federal law
- Deliver care in accordance with established standards of care and accepted community standards
- Understand the organization's commitment to provide high quality patient care
- Promote a patient-centered environment
