Boone Memorial Health is seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join our Orthopedics team. Key Responsibilities 

  • Conduct orthopedic-focused patient evaluations, including detailed histories and physical examinations. 

  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic imaging and laboratory tests. 

  • Develop individualized treatment plans for acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. 

  • Perform fracture management, joint injections, wound care, and other in-office procedures within the scope of practice. 

  • Assist in surgical procedures as directed by supervising physician (if applicable). 

  • Prescribe medications, therapies, durable medical equipment (DME), and rehabilitation regimens consistent with licensure and scope of practice. 

  • Educate patients and families on injury prevention, rehabilitation, surgical recovery, and lifestyle modification. 

  • Provide pre-operative optimization and post-operative monitoring, including dressing changes and suture/staple removal. 

  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, physical therapists, radiology, and other clinical teams to ensure coordinated care. 

  • Maintain timely, complete, and accurate documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR). 

  • Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing education activities. 

  • Coordinate with the Operating Room team to ensure proper scheduling, preparation, and continuity of care for surgical patients. 

Qualifications 

  • Current and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) license in the State of West Virginia. 

  • Certification as an NP or PA by an accredited certifying body. 

  • Orthopedic experience preferred. 

  • Current BLS certification (required). 

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and teamwork skills. 

  • Commitment to patient-centered, compassionate care.
