POSITION SUMMARY

The Talent Development Manager will assist Eden Housing, Inc., to devise our organizational training strategy, oversee its implementation and assess its outcomes. Responsible for overseeing Eden Housing’s knowledge management strategy, ensuring employees are informed about KM processes, and implementing systems to capture and share both explicit and tacit knowledge. The Talent Development Manager will work across many departments to get employees up to speed in both their specific vertical and the overall needs of the company. The Talent Development Manager’s responsibilities include enhancing employees’ skills, performance, productivity and quality of work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support and execute a knowledge management strategy that aligns with organizational goals, including enforcing policies and standards.
  • Manage projects related to knowledge management in the artificial intelligence space, ensuring delivery on time within budget.
  • Analyze and evaluate training programs, instructors, or materials and the effectiveness of training programs, providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Present information using a variety of instructional techniques or formats, such as role playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, or lectures.
  • Obtain, organize, or develop training procedure manuals, guides, or course materials, such as handouts or visual materials.
  • Define instructional, learning, or performance objectives.
  • Develop instructional materials and products for technology-based redesign of courses.
  • Design learning products, including web-based aids or electronic performance support systems.
  • Confer with management and conduct surveys to identify training needs based on projected production processes, changes, and other factors.
  • Conduct orientation sessions and arrange on-the-job training for new hires.
  • Conduct or arrange for ongoing technical training and personal development classes for staff members.
 
  • Conduct opinion surveys or needs assessments.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises the Training Coordinator. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent in education, human resources management, knowledge management or business-related field preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

TECHNOLOGY SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Computer based training software —Adobe Systems Adobe Captivate; Articulate Rapid E-Learning Studio;
  • Electronic mail software — Microsoft Outlook
  • Experience with administrative tasks with learning management systems (Litmos a plus)
  • PowerPoint
  • Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word
  • Video conferencing software (i.e., WebEx)

PREFERRED SKILLS and/or ABILITIES

  • Proven work experience as a training manager or knowledge management
  • Familiarity with Knowledge Management systems and software
  • Track record in designing and executing successful training programs
  • Familiarity with traditional and modern training methods (mentoring, coaching, on-the-job or in classroom training, e-learning, workshops, simulations etc.)
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to plan, multi-task and manage time effectively
  • Strong writing and record keeping ability for reports and training manuals Good computer and database skills

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, training outlines, needs assessments, and operational manuals and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define and articulate problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
