Position Summary
We are seeking a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) to provide low barrier reproductive health and primary care. This position is ideal for a provider passionate about increasing access to reproductive services while also addressing same-day, walk-in primary care.
The provider will perform contraceptive management (including IUD and Nexplanon insertions/removals), pap smears, and general sexual and reproductive health care. In addition, the provider will offer urgent and short-term primary care visits in a walk-in setting, supporting patients who face barriers to traditional scheduled care.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
• Provide reproductive and sexual health services, including contraceptive counseling and management, reproductive health counseling, pap smears and STI testing and treatment.
• Perform IUD and Nexplanon insertions and removals with a high degree of proficiency.
• Deliver drop-in/low-barrier primary care, addressing acute and short-term health concerns.
• Collaborate with the broader CrescentCare clinical team to ensure continuity of care and appropriate referrals.
• Maintain thorough documentation in the electronic health record in compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
• Practice patient-centered care that is inclusive, trauma-informed, and responsive to the needs of diverse populations.
Qualifications
- The minimum education level required for the position is a Master’s Degree in Science, APN
- The minimum experiential level required for the position is 1-year
- AAHIV Certification preferred
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
- Experience in gender-focused care & LGB health preferred
- Louisiana Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Louisiana Advanced Practice Nursing Certificate
- DEA Certificate if appropriate
- National Provider Identification Number (NPI);
- Practice Guidelines and Formulary filed with and approved by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing (LSBN).
- Maintains BLS / ACLS certifications as necessary
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Board certification required
