Description

The Fox Theatre, Atlanta’s crown jewel of entertainment, is looking for a seasoned and service-driven Private Events Manager to lead the charge in delivering unforgettable private events. From glamorous galas to corporate celebrations, you’ll be the behind-the-scenes star ensuring every event is a showstopper.

The Private Events Manager is a key leadership position within the Fox Theatre’s Food and Beverage Department, responsible for managing and executing all aspects of service for private events across the venue. This role ensures the seamless delivery of premium bar operations and upholds the Fox Theatre’s Five Star guest service standards. Reporting to the Director of Food and Beverage, the Private Events Manager works closely with our exclusive event partner, Affairs to Remember (ATR), as well as other vendors and internal departments, to coordinate and deliver high-quality events that reflect the Fox’s commitment to excellence.
 
This position requires strong leadership skills, exceptional organizational ability, and hands-on experience in managing high-volume events in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The Private Events Manager is responsible for overseeing the event team, maintaining accurate inventory across multiple storage locations, managing purchasing and cost controls, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and consistently delivering excellent service.
 
Additionally, this role will handle staff hiring, training, scheduling, payroll, and performance management, while also contributing to the development of beverage offerings and pricing structures. WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Lead the setup, execution, and breakdown of all private event operations, ensuring a seamless and high-quality experience. Supervise FOH and BOH event staff, assigning roles and overseeing service execution. Ensure that all bars, service stations, and storage areas are fully stocked, clean, and compliant with health and safety standards. Act as primary on-site beverage lead for all private events, coordinating with ATR and other vendors.
  • Hire, on board, and train beverage and event staff; conduct regular performance evaluations and corrective coaching as needed. Create and manage weekly staffing schedules in alignment with event needs. Maintain payroll records and ensure accurate processing of gratuities. Uphold and train staff on the Fox Theatre’s Private Events Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Five Star guest service expectations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory across multiple storage locations (wine room, ballroom cooler, breakdown room, etc.).Manage the purchasing and receiving of all beverage products and related supplies. Prepare detailed invoices for clients and ensure proper reconciliation. Monitor cost of goods (COGS), ensure adherence to budget targets, and analyze product usage trends. Assist in refining private event package pricing and offerings to meet both client expectations and financial goals.
  • Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly equipment maintenance schedules. Ensure all beverage service areas comply with internal standards and local/state health department regulations. Assist in developing and enforcing safety protocols for all bars and work areas.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Fox Theatre and ATR during all phases of event planning and execution. Support other departments in the Food & Beverage division as needed. Represent the department professionally in meetings and assist with special projects or operational needs.
  • Develop and implement onboarding programs for all new private events staff, ensuring they are well-versed in Fox Theatre’s service standards, safety protocols, and beverage operations procedures. Lead regular training sessions focused on responsible alcohol service (including ServSafe Alcohol or equivalent), mixology techniques, product knowledge (wine, spirits, beer), and bar equipment usage to maintain service excellence. Coach and mentor staff in real time during private events, offering constructive feedback and reinforcement of Five Star service expectations. Facilitate training refreshers and service simulations ahead of major events or seasonal service changes to ensure readiness and alignment with event execution goals. Introduce standard operating procedure (SOP) updates through hands-on walkthroughs and interactive staff meetings, ensuring understanding and adherence to changes.

 

 

 

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proven experience managing high-volume food and beverage operations, specifically within private events or hospitality settings.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, including hiring, training, scheduling, and performance oversight.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute events from setup through breakdown while maintaining high service standards.
  • Solid working knowledge of bar operations, including beer, wine, and spirits service.
  • Proficiency with point-of-sale systems and office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, inventory tracking systems).Experience with purchasing, inventory control, and cost tracking.
  • Understanding of budgeting and financial processes, including invoice handling and payroll processing.
  • Familiarity with health department regulations and safety standards for beverage service areas.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners like Affairs to Remember (ATR).
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain calm under pressure during high-volume or fast-paced events.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Physical stamina and availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

PREFERRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Experience working in a performance venue, entertainment complex, or other event-driven environment.
  • Formal training or certification in hospitality or event management.
  • Working knowledge of warehouse operations and beverage equipment maintenance.
  • Previous experience developing and pricing beverage packages.
  • ServSafe Manager or Alcohol Safety Certification.
  • Familiarity with inventory software or tools.
  • Experience supervising unionized or part-time staff in an event-based setting.
  • Ability to assist in broader food and beverage department operations as needed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Three years management experience with a high volume or quick service food and beverage operations.
  • Knowledge of beers, wines, and spirits is required.
  • Understanding of inventory management, accounting processes, and computer software. 
  • Public relations and strong hospitality skills required.
  • Basic understanding of food and health safety policies.
  • Public and guest relations, customer conflict resolution, POS working knowledge, scheduling and accounting.
  • General computer, POS systems knowledge, Excel template & spreadsheets, Data entry into Appetize.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • College degree preferred and 3 years management experience working with external event planning/catering companies.
  • ServSafe Alcohol and/or Food Handler Certification.
  • TIPS Certification.
  • Previous experience working in historic venues or multi-space environments.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to work extended shifts of 10 hours or more as business dictates.
  • Ability to carry or lift items over 50lbs.
  • Must be flexible with schedule and able to work different shifts as needed by the booking of events and office hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, weekdays, early mornings or any other shift as is required by the nature of the event.
  • Successful applicants MUST be able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment background check.

The Marquee Club Presented by Lexus is the Fox Theatre’s premium club space open to Club Level seat holders or annual Members only.
