POSITION SUMMARY: The PFCE Coordinator supports high-quality parent, family, and community engagement across You Thrive Florida’s Early Learning Programs.  This role works collaboratively with the ERSEA Manager, ERSEA Supervisors, Family Advocates, and Early Learning staff to coordinate family engagement strategies, outreach efforts, and community partnerships. The PFCE Coordinator ensures all services are delivered in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards and are designed to strengthen family well-being, promote parent involvement, and enhance children’s development and school readiness.

This opportunity supports Volusia & Hernando County's with a homebase office in Deland, FL.

 

Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Ensure program-wide compliance with the Head Start PFCE Framework and update the PFCE plan annually.
  • Monitor implementation of PFCE strategies across all sites, ensuring services are systemic, integrated, and comprehensive.
  • Compile, track, analyze, and assure accuracy of monthly PFCE reports for submission to the Operations Manager
  • Align PFCE activities with family needs assessments, community assessments, and program goals
  • Evaluate PFCE outcomes and recommend improvements to strengthen family and community engagement
  • Coordinate and lead the PFCE Committee, ensuring active collaboration with the ERSEA Manager and other stakeholders
  • Support site-level Parent Committees by ensuring elections for officers and Policy Council representatives are conducted in compliance with standards
  • Provide training and technical assistance to Parent Committee officers, Policy Council representatives, and community representatives to strengthen parent leadership
  • Assist with recruiting and training Policy Council members and community representatives
  • Partner with Family Advocates and Site Supervisors to coordinate parent training, curriculum presentations, and family engagement events
  • Support planning and facilitation of parent and family training needs identified through family assessments
  • Collaborate on recruitment activities to promote enrollment and engagement within the community
  • Organize and maintain systems for tracking family engagement, parent training, and community participation activities
  • Actively participate in parent meetings, annual parent activities, and home-based or center-based events as needed
  • Design and implement strategies to engage fathers and other significant male figures in parent committees, Policy Council, advisory groups, and classroom activities
  • Ensure sites are parent and father friendly by supporting events, programs, and materials that encourage male participation
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate at least two family-focused fatherhood events annually
  • Develop and implement training and leadership opportunities to promote positive leadership skills among parents and male participants
  • Strengthen partnerships with community organizations to expand resources and opportunities for families
  • Positively represent You Thrive Florida Early Learning Programs at community and family events
  • Organize collaborative, family-focused community events that align with program recruitment and engagement goals
  • Support consistent, culturally and linguistically responsive communication with families and community partners
  • Lead trainings on PFCE, Family Services, ERSEA best practices, and family engagement for groups of staff, parents, or community members (2–50 participants)
  • Actively participate in staff meetings, PFCE Committee meetings, and professional development opportunities to stay current on best practices in PFCE
  • Manage and maintain the organization’s social media platforms and develop regular program updates (such as newsletters, digital communications, or family notices) to keep parents and staff informed of PFCE activities, events, and resources
  • Use data-driven insights to develop engaging content that promotes PFCE initiatives, increases audience engagement, and strengthens brand identity
  • Acts as an advocate and role model for Early Learning Program families
  • Regularly provides feedback about parent engagement to staff and parents
  • Actively recruits children for the program
  • Maintains confidentiality in all aspects of client, staff and agency information
  • Creates and maintains effective working interaction with coworkers and outside contacts that will enhance the operation of the Head Start program.
  • Participates in ongoing monitoring, Community Assessment and Self-Assessment and performs reasonable related functions.
  • Participates in regular safety, storm, and fire drills.
  • Organizes and prioritizes all assignments as directed.
  • Ensures in-kind documentation standards in ChildPlus are met as required by Program.
  • Uses and follows the policies/procedures of Head Start, federal, state and local regulations/laws, and federal regulations/laws including the Head Start Performance Standards, applicable transmittal notices, and other administrative orders/directions.
  • Uses and follows the policies/procedures of You Thrive Florida, including but not limited to Personnel Policies, Occupational Health and Safety policies, payroll policies/practices, etc.

 

NON-ESSENTIAL/SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

Performs any additional duties as directed or assigned by supervisor, management staff, program director or You Thrive Florida management staff. Qualifications

JOB STANDARDS:

Education: Minimum requirement of an Associate’s degree with human services, social work or related field preferred. Employee will obtain certification in First Aid/CPR. Within 90 days of employment must begin at least one of the DCF Child Care training courses listed in S.402.305 (2) (d), Florida Statutes. Within eighteen (18) months of hire employee will complete Head Start/Early Head Start required certification training hours. Employee must complete the HeadStart/Early Head Start mandated 55 hours of Florida DCF Child Care Training as outlined in the Family Advocate Career Advancement Criteria. Employee will obtain certification in ERSEA within 1 year of hire date and will maintain annually thereafter.

Experience: 2 years of experience in human services or related field.

Licenses & Certifications: Valid Florida driver’s license and be insurable by Company’s current insurance carrier.  Subject to federal, state and local legal requirements/background checks/clearance for working with children.

 

CRITICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, & EXPERTISE:

Physical Requirements: These physical demands are representative of the physical requirements necessary for an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. Sitting, standing for long periods of time, use of fingers, arms, hands and legs and voice/talking are constant. Good eyesight (correctable) and hearing (correctable) are essential. Squatting, walking, handling, grasping, stretching/reaching, bending at the waist, driving and light lifting and/or carrying (up to 30lbs.) are frequent. Pushing, pulling, kneeling, balancing, turning, feeling, medium lifting and/or carrying (up to 60 lbs.) are occasional.

Equipment: Computer, facsimile, copy machine, calculator, switchboard, multi-line phone and other small office and instructional equipment, playground equipment and vehicle.

Skills & Expertise: Ability to work with limited direction. Knowledge of organizational methods. Skills in completing work with a high degree of accuracy. Skill in developing policies, procedures and/or systems for implementing programmatic functions. Ability to evaluate programs and situations and make decisions for improvement. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. ENVIRONMENTAL JOB FACTORS:

Job Location: Primary location is the Early Learning Program facilities in Hernando, Sumter, and/or Volusia counties. Frequent travel to other counties. As needed; primary job location is subject to change within the program’s operations regions at any given time with reasonable notice provided.

Work Environment: While performing the responsibilities of the position, these work environment characteristics are representative of the environment the employee will encounter.  Office environment and working alone and with others frequently. Working with office equipment is frequent.  Occasionally outdoors and operates a vehicle.
