POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible to provide students with a safe and structured living environment that fosters student retention, satisfaction, achievement and success. Oversees the daily management of the residential living programs and uses proper judgment and discretion to resolve student and staff issues and problems. Manages non-class hour residential living environment and ensures quality leadership and evening programming to enhance student’s independent living and employability skills. Ensures strict confidentiality of sensitive information and integrity of student data. Must possess an In State Driver's LicenseĀ 

MANAGEMENT & SUPERVISION

Supervises and manages the program and activities of the Residential Living Department.

May be assigned Acting Programs Director in Director’s absence.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Follows all integrity guidelines and procedures and ensures no manipulation of student data. o Ensures Center meets or exceeds DOL/Company performance goals.

  • Interviews, recommends for hire, disciplines, recommends for termination and evaluates the performance of the employees in the Residential Living Department.

  • Ensures that assigned dormitory facilities are organized, clean, safe and conducive to student achievement and success.

  • Coordinates staff coverage to ensure student areas are supervised.

  • Ensures all staff adhere to rest and meal break requirements. o Fills staff vacancies in a timely manner.

  • Employs sound time-management and delegation skills. Holds staff accountable for producing quality work, develops staff for career progression and disciplines staff that fail to meet goals.

  • Provides required/supplemental training for new and current employees.

  • Effectively motivates, empowers and requires staff to perform his/her job responsibilities. Motivates and manages staff to work effectively, creates a supportive work environment, recognizes staff accomplishments and proactively addresses staff performance concerns.

  • Conducts social development training to include independent living skills and leadership training.

  • Oversees student-led programming including the Centers Student Government Association.

  • Responsible to provide residential students with comprehensive and individualized case management ensuring student progress, retention and completion of the Job Corps program. Establishes supportive/mentoring relationships with students throughout their enrollment and provides personal counseling.

  • Collaborate with Guidance Counselor to conduct Evaluations of Student Progress. o Routinely evaluates and documents student performance using case management system.

  • Contributes to the Center's culture by treating students with care and respect, assisting students achieve personal and career goals and ensuring students feel safe and welcomed during enrollment.

  • Coordinates staff coverage to ensure student areas are supervised including maintaining an active list of substitute staff to fill staff vacancies and call outs.

  • May be responsible for Center Shift Operations. o Produces quality work/assignments in a thorough, timely and accurate manner. o Maintains appropriate personal attendance, accountability and work productivity standards. o Plans, prioritizes and organizes assignments to meet established goals and deadlines.

  • Understands and applies job knowledge to effectively complete all required job responsibilities.

  • Proactively maintains the skills required to perform job duties.
  • Mentors, monitors and models the Career Success Standards as required by the PRH.

  • Provides high-quality supervision and management for the student population. Takes swift and appropriate action and positively influences student behavior. Shows respect and courtesy to students and holds them accountable for their actions and behavior.

  • Provides quality programs and services for students and ensures that quality is maintained and student needs are met. Pursues improvement and enhancement of programs and services.

  • Exchanges ideas and information, both orally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner and contributes meaningfully to group efforts by offering relevant ideas and knowledge. Provides quality and timely information to DOL/Company when requested.

  • Provide transportation as required.

  • Effectively articulates thoughts and ideas. Identifies problems, analyzes causes and evaluates appropriate solutions prior to taking or recommending actions. Follows up to ensure prompt/appropriate action is taken and that problems are in fact corrected.

  • Works in partnership with staff from all Departments to ensure effective supervision and services are provided to students.

  • Accepts direction and supervision from the Center Director/Center Duty Officer/Shift Manager to include assignments to temporarily perform job responsibilities of other departments and positions.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school required.
  • A minimum two years of experience in program management and direction with a substantial experience working with youth.
  • Must possess a valid in-State Driver’s License and meet the Company insurability requirements.

Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping and crouching. Demonstrates the ability to lift 40 pounds and/or the ability to assess the lift load in order to ask for necessary assistance.
