Description

The Director of Summer at Sage is responsible for managing and developing all aspects of Sage Hill School’s middle school summer program, which includes Camp Sage, the Lightning Athletic Academy (LAA) and all other middle school summer offerings.  The Director of Summer at Sage is responsible for providing exploratory learning and introducing academic enrichment courses and activities for the middle school summer program. They will seek to increase the school’s visibility with prospective full-time students, peer institutions, and other organizations in the wider community.

 

Summer at Sage – Middle School Program includes:

  • Camp Sage and Lightning Athletic Academy for Middle School grades 5-8. Morning session runs from 8:00-11:00 am and Afternoon session runs from 12:00-3:00 pm. Lunch is provided between the morning and afternoon sessions. Four week-long sessions that run consecutively in the month of July.
  • Enrichment Workshops for Middle School students which take place outside of the four weeks of Camp Sage.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Meet with the Assistant Head of School for Academics, Director of Admission and Enrollment and Director of Communications and Marketing on a weekly basis.
  • Develop and communicate a week-by-week responsibility matrix.
  • Develop, schedule, and oversee the Summer at Sage – Middle School program.
  • Oversee, lead and remain present for the entire day-to-day operation of Summer at Sage – Middle School program.
  • Oversee, schedule and manage the check-in and check-out process for Summer at Sage – Middle School program.
  • Oversee the Director of Lightning Athletic Academy and collaborate in the management and development of LAA.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources to recruit and hire a cadre of competent and properly trained teachers, camp counselors, coaches and staff members to organize and facilitate the Camp Sage summer program, ensuring that all instructors perform their duties with the highest level of professionalism.
  • Train and supervise all Summer at Sage – Middle School program staff members.
  • Establish calendar and coverage for the School Nurse and Athletic Trainer for Summer at Sage – Middle School program.
  • Collaborate with the School Nurse to create and monitor all safety and health programs for Summer at Sage – Middle School program.
  • Manage all parent and students concerns regarding Summer at Sage – Middle School program.
  • Monitor summer student progress and establish standards and expectation of student behavior.
  • Manage an annual budget and to ensure the profitability of the program.
  • Partner with the Director of Admissions and Enrollment to identify and recruit qualified students for the full-year Sage Hill academic program.
  • Work with the Athletic Liaison to schedule and oversee the use of the pool in collaboration with the Aquatic Director, including a schedule of licensed lifeguards.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Communications and Marketing to create print and online marketing materials for the middle school summer program, produce the catalog of summer program offerings, and generate enthusiasm for and promote the program’s success.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Technology to arrange for equipment needs.
  • Coordinate with the Director of Facilities to ensure classroom and athletic facility use during the summer is scheduled to also allow for periodic maintenance.
  • Hold a daily morning meeting with all Middle School summer program staff when the camp program is in session.
  • Represent and serve as official spokesperson of the camp program at local events, fairs, and festivals.
  • Serve as the “front of house” School representative every day, throughout the day, when campers arrive on campus and when campers depart campus during the entire period of the summer program.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Coordinate with the Athletic Liaison with the scheduling of facility use for the Upper School Athletic camps.
  • Work with the Director of Security to establish a safety response plan for Summer at Sage – Middle School program.
  • Coordinate with the Registrar in the Middle School summer program registration process and maintain accurate participant data in Camp Brain.
  • Review and approve timecards for Summer at Sage – Middle School program staff.
  • Assume responsibility for other projects as assigned by the Assistant Head for Academics and Director of Admission and Enrollment.

 Supervisory Responsibilities: Oversee Summer at Sage – Middle School program staff and the Director of Lightning Athletics Academy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • At least 3 to 5 years of teaching and/or administrative experience in a school or youth-serving organization
  • Supervisory experience
