As a(n) Application Analyst I at Sandia Area, you are responsible for delivering excellent service while maintaining personal accountability in your actions and behaviors. Reporting directly to the VP of Business Insights & Application Engineering, the Application Analyst I is responsible for ensuring that software applications and production jobs run smoothly and efficiently, providing technical support to users, diagnosing and resolving problems, and maintaining software systems. This role combines application support with development activities, including application enhancements, building new integrations, coding, and scripting.

 

Duties and responsibilities

Department Operational Support

  • Monitor batch jobs, scheduled processes, and automated workflows to ensure successful completion.

  • Review job logs and error messaged to diagnose problems.

  • Document issues, solutions, and lessons learned.

  • Coordinate with technical lead for complex problem resolution.

  • Monitor data feeds and file transfers between systems.

  • Set up and respond to alerts for system failures or SLA breaches.

  • Schedule and maintain automated scripts using Opcon or Airflow task schedulers.

  • Implements automated processes and scripts to monitor system health and job completion.

  • Create scripts using Powershell or Python to automate routine tasks.

  • Develop Python scripts for file processing and data manipulation.

  • Modify existing scripts to meet changing operational requirements.

Technical Oversight & Review

  • Debug and troubleshoot script errors and logic issues.

  • Design and manage OpCon or Airflow jobs.

  • Create basic SQL queries for data extraction and validation.

  • Generate routine operational reports and metrics

  • Prepare status updates for management and stakeholders.

Compliance & Policy Adherence

  • Ensure data integrity and application availability.

  • Ensure all deliverables and projects comply with organizational PCI PII policies..

  • Maintain documentation of data sources, transformations, and business rules.

  • Willing to undergo background and credit checks as required by federal and state regulations.

  • Understand and comply with all policies, procedures, and legal guidelines, including adherence to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and other applicable financial regulations.

 

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Expertise in writing and modifying scripts with a preferred understanding of financial institution operations.

  • Basic understanding of operating systems (Windows, Linux/Mac).

  • Proficient in one or more programming language like Python.

  • Familiarity with job scheduling and batch processing.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills to identify issues, offer practical and effective solutions.

  • Capability to learn new technologies and tools quickly.

  • Ability to analyze errors and logs files to identify error patterns.

  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.

  • Proactive in seeking professional growth, embracing both formal and informal development opportunities, and demonstrating adaptability to new responsibilities.

  • Team-oriented with a strong collaborative mindset, actively supporting team members and contributing to a positive and high-performing environment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to perform essential functions, including the ability to lift up to 30 lbs. as needed.

 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Associate's degree in related field.

    • Directly related experience, in addition to minimum years required, may be considered as a substitution.

  • One (1) year(s) of applicable experience required.

  • 1+ years of experience in a technical role.
