As a(n) Commercial Services Officer at Sandia Area, you are responsible for delivering excellent service while maintaining personal accountability in your actions and behaviors. Reporting directly to the Vice President Commercial Lending, the Commercial Services Officer is responsible for opening, maintaining and closing business accounts in accordance with Credit Union policy, establishing online account profiles for new members, cross-selling additional products, training Member Consultants about business products and services, assisting members with online services and participating in networking or community events when requested.

 

Duties and responsibilities

Department Operational Support

  • Actively cross-sells Credit Union products and/or services to meet business members' needs and achieve Credit Union goals and objectives.

  • Processes new business account transactions including but not limited to, opening, maintaining and closing of business accounts.

  • Develops a comprehensive understanding of the member needs, based on the review and analysis of personal and business financial data gathered.

  • Performs loan interviews, gathering background information on loan applicants such as consumer reports, employment/income verification, etc. to provide to the VP Commercial Lending, Commercial Loan Officer, or Commercial Loan Analyst.

  • Works closely with Branch Managers to ensure service levels for business deposit accounts are high.

  • Conduct training sessions at both the branches and Operations Center about business deposit products, services and initiatives.

  • Develops and maintains an in-depth knowledge of products and services, as well as knowledge of market competitors and competitive products.

  • Ensures the Credit Union's business deposit structure and pricing are competitive in the local marketplace.

  • Participates in community events to increase the Credit Union's visibility and to enhance new business opportunities.

 

Compliance & Policy Adherence

  • Review documentation for all opened business checking accounts to ensure compliance with Credit Union policies.

  • Adapt to evolving responsibilities, taking on additional duties as assigned to support the success of the organization.

  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and staying informed on industry trends and best practices.

  • Willing to undergo background and credit checks as required by federal and state regulations.

  • Understand and comply with all policies, procedures, and legal guidelines, including adherence to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and other applicable financial regulations.

 

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Expertise in sales, financial services and computer applications with a requisite understanding of financial institution operations.

  • Requires excellent interpersonal communication skills, to include strong active listening and selling skills, to maintain and grow business relationships.

  • Excellent oral and written communication.

  • Self-starter, highly motivated, and polished professionally to maintain Credit Union's standing and public image within the community

  • Ability to use critical thinking skills to evaluate information.

  • Must possess strong sales energy.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.

  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and adapt to a fast-paced environment.

  • Proactive in seeking professional growth, embracing both formal and informal development opportunities, and demonstrating adaptability to new responsibilities.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to perform essential functions, including the ability to lift up to 20 lbs. as needed.

 

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field.

    • Directly related experience, in addition to minimum years required, may be considered as a substitution.

  • Two (2)year(s) of applicable experience required.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a sales, financial services, or lending role or high school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 6 years’ experience in a sales, financial services, or lending role. 

  • Must have strong relationship management skills.

  • Highly developed sales and networking skills.

Must maintain an active and valid driver’s license to attend networking and community events as needed.
