Job Title: Engineer of New Product Development & Continuous Improvement

Department: Engineering/Manufacturing

Reports to: Engineering Manager or Chief Operating Officer

 

Position Profile:

Seolta Holdings, LLC (MJM Yachts,LLC) seeks a versatile Engineer to work in conjunction with the Engineering Manager to develop and implement an engineering strategy which is crucial to our continued growth and success. The Manufacturing & Product Implementation Engineer is responsible for bridging the gap between design engineering and production execution at MJM Yachts. This role ensures that new models, design changes, and continuous improvement projects are implemented efficiently, safely, and with the highest quality standards. The position drives the transition of engineering concepts into repeatable, lean manufacturing processes and supports the introduction of new components, systems, and build methods into production.

Role and Responsibilities

New Product & Engineering Implementation

  • Lead the integration of new models, product updates, and design changes into manufacturing using structured processes (ECR, ECN, and release control).
  • Develop implementation plans for new product launches, including prototype builds, validation testing, and feedback loops to teams.
  • Coordinate with production and suppliers to validate manufacturability and assembly efficiency for all new parts and systems.
  • Oversee pilot runs and first-article inspections to confirm readiness for serial production.
  • Create and maintain “Build Packages” for production teams, including BOMs, CAD drawings, router details, and quality check gates.

 

Manufacturing Engineering & Process Control

 

  • Develop standardized work instructions (SOPs), job travelers, and takt-based assembly sequences.
  • Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in build processes through root-cause analysis and Kaizen events.
  • Support factory layout optimization, tooling design, and ergonomic improvements to improve safety and throughput.
  • Collaborate with production, supply chain, finance, quality and engineering teams to ensure cross-departmental alignment.
  • Implement quality metrics (DPHO) and corrective actions for recurring production issues.

 

Continuous Improvement & Lean Implementation

 

  • Champion Lean Manufacturing and 5S practices across assigned stations and departments.
  • Conduct time studies, station balancing, and process audits to optimize labor and flow.
  • Support CNC programming, and fixture/jig development to improve consistency and reduce rework.
  • Drive cost-reduction initiatives in materials and processes while maintaining MJM’s high quality standards.

 

Cross-Functional Communication

  • Partner with Production Supervisors, Purchasing, and Quality to ensure materials, drawings, and process changes are correctly implemented.
  • Communicate technical updates, ECR progress, and build readiness to leadership teams during S&OP and Launch Readiness reviews.
  • Interface with suppliers and vendors on manufacturability and quality requirements.

 

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in marine, automotive, aerospace, or composite manufacturing preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement tools.
  • Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks, Rhino, or AutoCAD) and ERP systems (Epicor preferred).
  • Hands-on experience in composite assembly, electrical integration, or mechanical systems.
  • Strong project management and communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
