Job Summary:
The on-call substitute teacher is responsible for providing high-quality instruction and classroom continuity in the absence of regular faculty. This role requires flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and engaging learning environment. The position works across various grade levels and subjects while modeling respect, professionalism, and cultural competency in all interactions.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Delivers lesson plans and instructional materials provided by the regular teacher.
- Provides instruction and support to students in various grade levels and subjects.
- Assumes the regular teacher’s daily duties such as supervising students during recess, lunch, or dismissal to ensure the safety and smooth operation of the school day.
- Maintains a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.
- Adapts teaching strategies to meet the individual needs of students.
- Monitors student behavior and enforce classroom rules and policies.
- Collaborates with other teachers and staff members to ensure continuity of instruction.
- Upholds and models the mission, values, and strategic priorities of STS.
- Demonstrates respect for diverse perspectives and a commitment to equity and inclusion.
- Communicates effectively and professionally with students, families, and colleagues.
- Maintains confidentiality and handles sensitive information with discretion.
- Adheres to school policies and procedures and performs other duties as assigned.
