OVERVIEW

 

Senior Acquisition Lead to join our MILSATCOM Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (MSEIT) team, supporting the U.S. Space Force’s Space Systems Command (SSC). team in El Segundo, CA. This role provides senior-level expertise in acquisition strategy, contracting, budgeting, and program execution for next-generation satellite communications (SATCOM) systems. Due to security requirements, work is required to be on‐site in a secure facility.

 

This position requires that you work on-site AND must live in or near El Segundo, CA

 

The MILSATCOM Systems Engineering, Integration, and Test (MSEIT) effort provides leading edge Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) for the US Space Force’s Space System Center. Supporting the Space Force’s acquisition of state-of-the-art Military Satellite Communications systems, providing global secure, survivable, and protected communications for our nation’s warfighters. 

 

The Senior Acquisition Lead will:

 

  • Provides expert advice to the Government Program Manager and Senior Space Force leadership regarding acquisition strategies, contracting, budgeting, and program execution.

  • Provides expertise in software acquisition within the DoD to include classified ACAT-like space control systems.

  • Offers strategic approaches for developing documentation required to support Defense Acquisition Boards

  • Highly knowledgeable in developing and coordinating all activities and documentation required to support source selections

  • Demonstrated experience with Air Force contracting and Air Force financial management

  • Serves as team lead for acquisition and systems engineering professionals

  • Supports ongoing and emerging program acquisitions

  • Provides expertise in schedule management of DoD programs

  • Serves as a strategic problem solver for the program office and refines acquisition strategies

  • Identifies program execution issues and provides accompanying solution recommendations

  • Drafts presentation materials, status briefings, and strategic communication inputs

  • Performs analyses of program business cases and risk assessments

  • Provides actionable recommendations to the Government Program Manager

  • Develops and collaborates on acquisition planning briefings and documents (AoA, ASP, ASD, J&A, etc.)

  • Develops and collaborates on solicitation planning and execution documents (RFPs, PWSs, CDRLs, Incentive Plans, etc.)

  • Drafts technical evaluations and functions as an advisor in Source Selections

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 12+ years of acquisition/program management experience in DoD programs.

  • Strong knowledge of DoD acquisition processes, contracting, and financial management.

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with ability to brief senior leaders.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

* Active Secret clearance or with the ability to obtain 

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Experience managing ACAT I-III programs.

  • Prior role as an advisor/evaluator in a source selection.

  • Familiarity with Confluence, JIRA, and modern collaboration tools.

  • Certifications: DAWIA/APDP Program Management Level III, PMP, or PgMP.

  • Experience with MILSATCOM systems (AEHF, EPS, WGS, Tactical SATCOM, COMSATCOM).

  • Experience working with military and DoD civilian clients.

 

Education

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field.

 

Compensation

Salary at SBG is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $100,000.00 to $120,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of SBG's total compensation package for employees.
