Summary, Job Description, and Qualifications

Job Title:                                Accounting Specialist - Accounts Payable

Reports To:                            Controller

Summary:

As a partner in building brighter futures for youth and their families, your role will be to assist with and facilitate accounting processes for all business locations that align with The Village Network’s Mission, Vision & Values.

 

Essential Tasks, Duties, and Responsibilities:

  • Performs duties related to Accounts Payable including, but not limited to, attaching invoices to requisitions, reviewing for signatures and receipts; entering payables in accounting system, processing checks and mail; providing Tax Exempt forms and completing credit applications as requested; maintaining centralized vendor files; generating monthly journal entries; and assisting with preparation of 1099s. 
  • Verifies receipts and generates monthly credit card report in Concur for Business Department credit card.
  • Serves as primary back-up for all aspects of foster care reimbursement process.
  • Performs other duties as assigned. Participates in required annual training appropriate to the position.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to use a calculator and computer; proficiency in Word and Excel; aptitude to learn new computer software applications. 
  • High School diploma; post high school coursework and/or experience with general accounting principles; strong mathematical and problem solving skills.
  • Minimum of four years of prior experience in business with similar accounting responsibilities.
  • Valid Ohio Driver’s License and maintenance of a driving record that allows the individual to be insurable with The Village Network’s vehicle insurance provider.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; strong organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to multi-task and prioritize; ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine, computer printer, etc.
  • Ability to communicate (orally and written) with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the company
  • Ability to handle bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, reaching, and walking for periods of time.
  • Must be able to lift 20 pounds independently
