What will my day-to-day responsibilities look like?

In this position you will be working hands on with our clients to provide guidance and suggestions to empower their learning. You will do this by:

Assess & Treat: Administer age-appropriate screenings and assessments to develop individualized therapy goals and objectives.
Use Evidence-Based Techniques: Implement therapeutic interventions for sensory processing, fine and gross motor skills, feeding disorders, play skills, self-help skills, visual perception, handwriting, behavioral and emotional regulation, and activities of daily living.
Collaborate with Care Teams: Work closely with families, caregivers, and other professionals to ensure effective, personalized treatment plans.
Adapt Environments for Success: Make recommendations and train for the use of adaptive or specialized equipment and environmental modifications.
Maintain Compliance & Documentation: Ensure accurate, timely documentation in accordance with professional and organizational standards.
Stay Current & Grow: Engage in continuing education and professional development to stay updated on the latest therapy practices.

What do I need to be successful in this position?

Education: Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy.
Certification: Certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
Licensure: Active Missouri Occupational Therapy License in good standing (MO Board of Healing Arts).
Technical Skills: Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
Physical Ability: Ability to stand, stoop, lift up to 50 lbs., and push/pull items as needed.
Reliable Transportation: Licensed and insured driver with a vehicle available for work-related travel.
Strong Communication & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to collaborate, adapt, and work independently in various settings.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

Definition

Utilizing leadership, advocacy, and collaboration, the Occupational Therapist (OT) provides assessment and treatment services within their scope of practice for individuals with varying diagnoses or disabilities. The Occupational Therapist (OT) is responsible for working with clients and their families or caregivers to promote increased quality of life and confidence throughout the lifespan. The OT will work collaboratively within The Arc of the Ozarks, as well as within the community.

The OT must have excellent organization, time management, and communication skills—both verbal and written. They must be able to interact appropriately with all clients, families, visitors, and other professionals. Services may be provided in a clinic, school-based, or in-home setting dependent upon the clientele’s needs. The OT is an hourly, non-exempt position.

	Develop and implement treatment goals and objectives.
	Utilize evidence-based practices for a variety of diagnoses and disabilities.
	Make environmental adaptations to promote success across environments.
	Make recommendations and train for use of adaptive or specialized equipment or furniture.
	Maintain appropriate and timely documentation.
	Communicate effectively with members of the client’s care team and family.
	Complete thorough chart reviews and obtain additional diagnostic information from the client’s care team and family.
	Supervise occupational therapy assistants and interns.
	Arrange travel time to maximize contact with students and to accomplish other duties.
	Engage in continuing education and professional growth activities related to the profession and scope of practice.
	Make appropriate recommendations and referrals for additional medical and other related services, as needed.
	Complete all necessary documentation in a timely manner.
	Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in written form.

Adherence to a high level of professional and ethical standards.

Ability to interact appropriately with clients, families, visitors, as well as Arc personnel and vendors and other professionals.

Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, and electronic medical record systems for data collection and reporting.

Ability to stand, stoop, lift up to 50 lbs., and pull and push items on an infrequent basis.

Licensed and insured driver with a vehicle available for work.

Minimum Experience and Training Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy

Certification by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy

Missouri Occupational Therapy licensure active and in good standing by the MO Board of Healing Arts
