What is this job all about?Â
The Arc of the Ozarks is seeking an enthusiastic Assistant Apartment Manager to join our team at Crowhaven Apartments, a Section 8 HUD apartment complex, located in Nixa, MO. This apartment complex dedicated to fostering independence and community inclusion for individuals with disabilities.Â
In this dynamic role, you’ll assist in the on-site management and supervision of the apartments, supporting the Apartment Manager in day-to-day operations. Your focus will be on enhancing residents’ self-help skills, economic self-sufficiency, socialization, transportation, and overall well-being to maximize their independence and quality of life.Â

What will my day-to-day responsibilities look like?Â
An Assistant Apartment Manager is both a mentor and a coach. In this position you will be working hands on with our clients to provide guidance and suggestions to empower their learning. You will do this by:Â

On-Site Management & Inspections: Assist in managing Crowhaven Apartments, conducting frequent checks, completing apartment inspections, and ensuring safety protocols are followed.Â

Community Inclusion & Tenant Support: Plan and oversee community activities, support tenants’ individualized plans, assist with healthcare appointments, and provide necessary observations.Â

Inventory & Facilities Management:Â Maintain inventory, manage donations, oversee general upkeep of the facility, and submit maintenance requests.Â

Coordination & Communication:Â Participate in meetings (Board of Directors, tenant, and activity committees), communicate updates with agencies, and assist with financial coordination.Â

Collaboration & Fundraising: Work with service providers, support fundraising efforts, and collaborate with The Arc’s departments to enhance community integration activities.Â

What do I need to be successful in this position?Â

Behavior Support & De-escalation Knowledge:Â Familiarity with Positive Behavior Supports and de-escalation techniques.Â

Management & Supervision Skills:Â Understand the principles of management and supervision, and effectively manage facilities with the Apartment Manager.Â

Experience in Human Services:Â At least one year of experience providing direct assistance in the care and habilitation of individuals, especially those with developmental disabilities, is strongly preferred.Â

Community Inclusion Expertise:Â Ability to implement and supervise community inclusion programs focused on improving self-help skills, socialization, and personal health.Â

Effective Reporting & Analysis:Â Ability to collect, analyze, and report observations accurately to support tenant decision-making.Â

Strong Communication Skills:Â Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with tenants, staff, and other stakeholders.Â

Physical Ability:Â Ability to stand, stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.Â

Relationship-Building:Â Establish and maintain strong, positive relationships with tenants, staff, and other agency personnel.Â

Education: Diploma from an accredited high school or equivalent is required. Â
