Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School (PALCS) is a state-wide, public (tuition-free) K-12 online charter school with approximately students. The Center for Performing and Fine Arts is an on-site and online enrichment program open to PALCS students by audition. Job Purpose:
Based in West Chester, PA, the PALCS Center for Performing and Fine Arts (CPFA) is an arts-intensive, audition-based, on-site and online program for middle and high school PALCS students. We seek a dynamic music teacher focusing on guitar and music technology to join our CPFA Music Department. The ideal candidate will have classical and jazz guitar training, a strong background in jazz and traditional music theory, experience in music production, digital composition, digital audio workstations, and the ability to play two or more instruments (i.e., guitar, and preferably strings).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide in-person and online instruction using Zoom, Canvas, and other digital platforms.
- Teach individual and small group guitar lessons (classical, jazz, and contemporary styles).
- Teach group-based guitar and music technology classes for middle and high school students.
- Deliver instruction in traditional and jazz theory.
- Integrate music technology into instruction, including Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) and composition software.
- Guide students in composition, arranging, and recording projects using BandLab, Soundtrap, PreSonus Studio One, or similar applications.
- Customize curriculum and repertoire to meet the diverse needs and interests of students.
- Collaborate with our ensemble teachers to prepare students for concerts, festivals, and community performances..
- Assist with student auditions and ensemble placements.
- Provide input for IEP/504 plans and attend meetings as needed.
- Collaborate with colleagues in the CPFA Music Department and their Professional Learning Community.
- Engage in relevant professional development.
- Proctor standardized testing (limited overnight travel may be required 1–2 times per academic year).
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the CPFA Head Administrator or Music Department Chair.
