Job Purpose:

The Visual Arts (Graphic Design and Studio Art)  teacher will be responsible for teaching Graphic Design and Studio Art courses (based on areas of expertise) for the Center for Performing and Fine Arts (CPFA), an arts-intensive, audition-based program of the Pennsylvania Leadership Charter School (PALCS). This teacher will teach both onsite and online art courses and will participate fully in the CPFA community.



 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Design curriculum and teach Graphic Design courses (including AP) for CPFA students.
  • Spearhead design projects on behalf of CPFA and PALCS.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to reinforce and remediate core standards and benchmarks.
  • Deliver specific, differentiated interventions designed to improve student achievement outcomes.
  • Assist with school publications, programs, and publicity.
  • Take responsibility for collaborating with students and colleagues to produce the annual CPFA Yearbook.
  • Participate in professional development for all staff.
  • Participate in statewide yearly testing 1-2 times per year (may require overnight travel).

Qualifications

Education, Certification (if applicable), Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Master’s Degree in Art Education, preferred
  • Instructional II K-12 Art Certification, required
  • Professional experience in the graphic design industry is preferred
  • Experience teaching AP courses is preferred. Exceptional knowledge of art pedagogy, PA, and national art education standards, and benchmarks
  • Advanced knowledge/proficiency with Adobe Creative Suites, especially InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
  • Advanced knowledge/proficiency with Mac and PC platforms. Advanced knowledge/proficiency with Google applications such as Google Docs, Google Drive, Google Slides
  • Keen analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Creative, intuitive, and analytical thinker
  • Patience and flexibility
  • Team player

 

Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:

  • Physical: Normal vision, speech, hearing, walking, sitting, standing, lifting, stooping, bending, grasping, keyboarding, and filing ability
  • Mental: Positive Attitude, analyzing, problem solving, decision making, and writing.
  • Environmental: Online, office, blended school environment
  • Travel -  As needed to support standardized testing, and additionally, as needed for positional or organizational needs
  • Hybrid Work Eligibility - Limited  - as determined by departmental parameters

All PA Leadership Charter School  applicants and employees will need to provide Pennsylvania Clearances: Act 34, 114, and 151 upon employment, as well as every five years from the date the previous clearance was obtained.
