Position Title: Finance Assistant (Part-time)

Reports to: Sr. Director of Finance

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt Part-time

Job Summary:
The Alumni Association is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team. This entry level role is perfect for current university students pursuing a degree in finance, accounting, or a related field. This individual will gain hands on experience in day-to-day financial operations while building a strong foundation for their career. Previous experience preferred, though not required.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete daily financial duties related to accounts receivable
  • Process Accounts Payable
  • Prepare deposits for bank bag
  • Assist staff with chapter financial needs
  • Prepare monthly reports for chapter accounts
  • Assist with reconciling events
  • Assist with a timely month close by keeping track of and reconciling assigned accounts
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Organizational Service: 

  • Provide excellent customer service to all constituents inquiring about Alumni Association programs and events
  • Work on personal and departmental goals and objectives as defined by management
  • Support the Alumni Association by having sufficient knowledge of programs and services offered, and professionally represent the organization in a positive manner
     

Job Competencies and Experience


Education:

Currently enrolled or recently graduated from an accredited college or university; interest in pursuing a career in finance, accounting, or business preferred.

Experience:
Previous internship or office experience and basic accounting knowledge required.

Work Environment:  

The position is in an office setting within the OSU Alumni Center.  Events and activities may be held outside so there will be some outdoor exposure. Position requires availability to work nights and weekends as determined by event scheduling.  Travel is required in and out of state. 

 

Physical Demands: (Indicate requirements that are job related and consistent with business necessity)

  • Position needs to move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Position needs to be able to transport parcels, packages and other items short distances, and drive a vehicle to deliver and pick up material
  • Position frequently communicates with staff, and must be able to exchange accurate information
  • Frequently move items weighing up to 50 pounds
