Description

This position is responsible the overall practical and creative interpretation of a text, taking into account the budgetary and physical constraints of production.  Theatre Directors work closely with the creative and production teams, actors, performers, and producers to create a performance that connects with the audience. Theatre Directors must be able to coordinate effectively across a wide range of disciplines, while keeping a clear artistic vision. Demonstrates commitment to the District's Mission, Vision, and Guiding Principles. 

 

Pay & Schedule:
$24.00 - $26.00 Per Hour

This is a part-time, non-exempt position.

Monday-Friday, 9:00am -3:00pm. Camp runs 6/9-8/1.

We are seeking two directors for our Theatre Arts Workshop summer camp. The first director is a Music Director and will be needed between the hours of 9:00am - 3:00pm for approximately 20-25 hours a week between 6/9-7/3. In the second session, the Music Director will be needed approximately 5-10 hours a week, with a flexible schedule between 9:00am - 3:00pm.

The second director will be working with campers to devise short musicals-- they'll be needed 6/16-6/20 from 3:15pm - 4:45pm for our 1-hour theatre camp. They will then be needed from 9:00am - 3:00pm from 7/8-8/1, Monday-Friday, approximately 25 hours/week.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Supervises the overall creative approach to production
  • Attends auditions and casts the production
  • Attends all rehearsals, scheduled shows, and allocates time for additional performances as appropriate
  • Support additional performance needs as necessary, such as front-of-house and backstage duties
  • Plans the rehearsals for areas of responsibility
  • Interprets the script
  • Guides actors in their work during the production
  • Attends production meetings to coordinate efforts with other members of the production team.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • Collaboration with designers and the stage manager
  • Collaborates with internal and external customers in a positive manner.
  • Follows safe work practices.

Qualifications

Degree from a four-year college or university in Theatre, Music, or Dance, or a similar field; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the above knowledge, ability and skills.
