SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY: 

 

The Development Associate is integral to raising funds for Wellnest and growing its base of supporters.

 

This position is responsible for driving specific fundraising outcomes, departmental administration, database management, external affairs activities including special events, and community engagement. The Development Associate is responsible for the development, implementation and management of volunteer programs, in-kind donations, and additional development activities as needed.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

Database Management (50%)

  • Maintain and update donor records with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Process all donations, pledges, and matching gifts in a timely manner.
  • Generate acknowledgment letters and tax receipts.
  • Create and maintain queries, exports, and reports for development staff and leadership.
  • Ensure data hygiene and perform regular audits to maintain database integrity.
  • Train staff on database best practices and usage.

 

 

Fundraising Support (30%)

  • Assist in the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns and appeals.
  • Support donor stewardship activities, including mailings, events, and recognition.
  • Coordinate logistics for donor events and cultivation activities.
  • Research prospective donors and prepare donor profiles.

 

 

Reporting & Analytics (15%)

  • Produce regular fundraising reports, dashboards, and KPIs.
  • Analyze giving trends and donor behavior to support strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with finance to reconcile donations and ensure accurate reporting.

 

 

Administrative & Cross-Departmental Support (5%)

  • Provide administrative support to the development team as needed.
  • Collaborate with marketing, finance, and program teams to support integrated fundraising efforts.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a development or fundraising role, with significant database responsibility.
  • Proficiency in donor database systems (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce NPSP, DonorPerfect).
  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.

 

 


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact).
  • Familiarity with fundraising best practices and donor stewardship.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit finance and gift reconciliation processes.
  •  Supports all Development Department activities and donor relation programs including the annual fund, fundraising events, and legacy gifts
  • Skilled in engaging and working with diverse individuals and groups to accomplish established goals.

 

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Employee may be asked to pursue additional training when it is determined to be in the best interest of the company. Employee must have the ability to use a personal vehicle with the required insurance coverage to complete the essential duties of their job and conduct agency business. Employee must maintain a valid California driver’s license and clean driving record that meets Wellnest’s insurance carrier’s criteria for liability coverage. In keeping with Company policy for all employees, the successful applicant must also complete a test for TB, and fingerprint clearance by the Department of Justice.

 

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Employee regularly works out in the field and in an office environment. Employee may be required to work flexible, evening and/or weekend hours for time-sensitive projects.

  • Ability to use computer keyboard up to 75% of the day.
  • Visual acuity, ability to adjust focus and peripheral vision for work on a laptop or other computer equipment.
  • Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to use telephone, office copier, calculator, fax machine, computer printer and scanner, or other equipment as required.
