About Camp Bette Perot:
Camp Whispering Cedars, Home of the STEM Center of Excellence, is in Dallas, TX and offers a variety of programming. The property sleeps approximately 120 people. During the summer, Camp offers sleepaway camping options for rental groups as well as Day Camp experiences. Ages range from 8-14year-olds.
Health Officer work season runs end of May to end of July 2025, with some positions available for more limited periods of time. Health Officer work week is typically 10 hours per day for 5 days per week.
Job summary:
Camp Health Officer is responsible for supporting a healthy, safe experience for all campers and staff by implementing nursing care in our day summer camp program during June and July and by providing administrative service. The Camp Health Officer will follow camp processes to oversee the physical and mental wellbeing of campers and staff for the best camp experience possible. The position reports to the Camp Director.

Primary responsibilities include:

Champion a positive, inclusive, caring, safe, and fun camp environment and promote the values of the Girl Scout Promise and Law, including serving as a positive role model for youth in language, dress, culture of inclusion, behavior, and attitude

Consult with camp management on physical and mental health needs of campers and staff, including determining level of crisis, recommending course of action, communicating with parents/guardians, and determining follow-up steps with affected campers and staff

Document all physical and mental healthcare provided and maintain records for daily treatment logs, accident/incident reports, insurance claims, and health department reports
Specific roles available:

Health Officer (age 21+): Serve as Health Officer with additional leadership responsibilities. Accountable for overall success of nursing operations for up to 150 campers and staff. Ensure appropriate level of care and ensure electronic documentation of all care provided. Maintain regular communication with Camp Director about operational needs. Must possess current licensure and at least one full year of experience as a registered nurse, nurse practitioner, physician, or physician assistant. Must commit to working entire camp season.
