Description

Develops Quality processes and procedures necessary to improve existing products and produce new products. Establishes methods and practices to assure process control and high quality of molded components, metal and cable forming and assembly . Insure high quality components and sub-assemblies are supplied to the assembly department and external customers. Supervises continuous improvement efforts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Designs, develops and implements process improvements as required to produce high quality molded components, metal and cable forming.
  • Insures the molding department produces a high quality molded and metal and cable formed components to the assembly department and external customers.
  • Facilitates continuous improvement efforts.
  • Trains and educates associates with regards assembly equipment.
  • Performs process troubleshooting to resolve problems.
  • Establishes processes on new products to assure specific actions for high quality components are met.
  • Implements process improvements to optimize cycle times.
  • Implements productivity improvements through capacity checks, 5-S operations and maintaining a safe operation.
  • Establishes proper setup of equipment and processes to meet requirements.
  • Estimates cycle times and standards for new products.
  • Establishes, implements, and monitors effective tracking methods and practices to assure high quality production of component parts.
  • Promotes an associate relations environment that is consistent with long-term management objectives.

Secondary Functions:

  • Assist as a safety, quality and SPC liaison.
  • Perform other duties as necessary.

Qualifications

Specialized Training, Skills, Abilities, Experience:

  • 4 year degree in Plastics/Process Engineering or Engineering Technology or equivalent field, preferred.
  • 2-4 years experience in supervision.
  • 3-5 years experience in production assembly
  • Extensive knowledge of engineered resins, function and operation of molding machines and peripheral equipment.

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions:

  • Office environment with noise from computer peripherals such as mainframe, disk drive and printers.
  • Factory environment with noise from manufacturing equipment Exposure to moving equipment, parts and electrical shock, also exposed to burns around die castings. Possible serious injury due to carelessness around equipment.
  • Often lifts, carries, or a move objects – up to 25 lbs. Sometimes weighing more than 50 lbs.
