DevOps Engineer

Job Summary: 

Bamboo is looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join our team. This role is responsible for managing and maintaining our AWS infrastructure, contributing to our AWS best practices, and partnering with our development and data teams on establishing CI/CD and data pipelines and deployment activities. 

Duties/Responsibilities: 

 Incident Management 

  • Triage and resolve production incidents for the cloud platform; lead root-cause analysis and postmortems with clear action items. 

  • Assess business impact, coordinate with application/support teams, and engage vendor support (e.g., AWS, Azure) as needed. 

  • Identify workarounds when permanent fixes require longer lead time; help recreate and test fixes/workarounds in lower environments before production rollout. 

  • Escalate promptly to team leads when timelines or impact warrant it. 

 Operations & Monitoring 

  • Design, configure, and automate the deployment of AWS development and production systems. 

  • Define and deploy systems for metrics and monitoring on the AWS platform - establish logging standards and metrics to allow for easily identifying, tracking, and debugging issues. 

  • Monitor consumption, optimize spend, and continuously enhance performance and security Automate and maintain AWS security standards/protocols and best practices for cloud systems. 

  • Automate system processes with PowerShell/Bash; integrate with CI/CD pipelines, and IaC 

  • Partner with the data team on creating data pipelines 

  • Design, build, and administer scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud resources. 

 

Required Skills/Abilities:  

  • Expertise in AWS Services related to Security and Development of Infrastructure 

  • Ability to organize and facilitate meetings across various stakeholders. 

  • Knowledgeable in presenting technical concepts to a non-technical audience. 

  • Proficient in Agile w/Scrum development methodology 

 

Required Education and Experience: 

  • 7–9 years in production support/operations, including incident response and on-call 

  • 5-6 years hands-on AWS experience; AWS certification required. 

  • AWS Certified SysOps Administrator Associate or DevOps Engineer Professional. 

  • Broad AWS expertise: AMIs, Route 53, VPC, EC2, S3, IAM, AWS CLI, EBS, ELB/ALB/NLB, SQS, CloudWatch, CloudTrail. 

  • Containerization/orchestration experience: Docker and Kubernetes. 

  • Proven AWS provisioning, secure VPC design, security groups, IAM, backup/restore, and DR patterns 

  • IaaS/PaaS fluency and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform or AWS CloudFormation). 

  • Scripting/automation (Bash, PowerShell, Python, Javascript); CI/CD integration experience. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience. 

  • Advanced knowledge of the full software development life cycle. 

  • Experience with Jira, Jira Advanced Roadmaps, Confluence to manage tickets across multiple projects. 

 

Preferred Requirements: 

  • Property and Casualty Insurance domain knowledge 

 

Physical Requirements:  

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. 

 

Salary: Starting at $130,000 annually. Candidate's skills, experience and abilities will be taken into consideration for final offer.
