YWCA Greater Los Angeles provides direct services, empowerment programming, and advocacy to support marginalized individuals and families, especially women and girls of color, while working to challenge structural barriers to equity.
Position Overview
The Development Manager will be responsible for raising contributions from Corporations, Foundations, Individuals and through Events. The Development Manager will be a key member of the Development team that will be collectively responsible for growing the department’s annual fundraising goal from both existing and new donors. This position will be accountable for a certain portion of the department’s fundraising goal to be determined in agreement with the Chief Development Officer.
Statement of Duties

Maintain, engage, and retain a diverse portfolio of funders to help meet annual fundraising goals.

Successfully steward YWCA's donor relationships, managing appropriate frequency of outreach, communication and involvement.

Recommend new engagement opportunities and implement best practices for future partnerships and activities.

Gather information to prepare proposals and progress reports.

Work closely with Chief Development Officer to cultivate new prospects whose funding priorities match YWCA's programs.

Help support event creation and management.

Manage to Results: Set realistic and achievable goals and break them down into interim goals. Be able to adjust when faced with obstacles, and lead others to achieve success. Take initiative and problem solve.

Communicate: Write articulate and persuasive proposals and other documents. Have strong written and verbal communication skills and be able to inspire diverse audiences through communication. Listen carefully and be responsive to feedback.

Develop Relationships: Use interpersonal interactions to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes and advance YWCA Greater Los Angeles’ mission. Demonstrate cultural/diversity competence. Build trust in critical partner relationships, both internal and external to YWCA. Demonstrate personal presence and confidence when working with partners.
