YWCA GLA provides direct services, empowerment programming, and advocacy to support marginalized individuals and families, especially women and girls of color, while working to challenge structural barriers to equity.

 

Position Overview

The objective of this position is to provide oversight and manage the daily activities of the South Los Angeles YWCA Greater Los Angeles Sexual and Domestic Violence crisis center. This position requires supervision of staff, consultants, interns, volunteers and program clients. This position will improve planning and cross learning and encourage joint problem solving relative to direct services and activities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Ensures each client receives appropriate, responsive attention, service and treatment in accordance with plans, programs, and contractual agreements
  • Oversees all operations, oversight and program development for the Angeles Mesa Empowerment Center, providing leadership and management to programs
  • Oversees implementation of program planning and grants management; maintains records of fiscal activities within funding agency regulations
  • Coordinates outside speakers for trainings and presentations
  • Reports on goals and objectives identified in CalOES government grants
  • Displays sensitivity to the cultural and linguistic needs of the client and families served
  • Must participate in On-Call rotation for phone consultation and oversight of the 24/7 Hotline and Sexual Assault Response Team, available nights and weekends
  • Identifies, cultivates and maintains strategic community partnerships that contribute to the program
  • Develops and implements outreach strategies that result in a reliable pipeline for client walk-ins and referrals
  • Coordinates all volunteers participating in programs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Leadership, Management, Social Work, Human Services, Behavioral Science, Counseling, or a related field from an accredited university is required. Master’s degree in a related field is preferred but not mandatory.

  • Minimum 5 years of trauma informed leadership and supervisory experience in program management, administration or service delivery within a social services or nonprofit setting

  • Experience working with sexual assault and/or domestic violence survivors from underserved populations, including people of color, people who are experiencing homelessness, people from immigrant groups, and people in the LGBT community.

  • Highly developed interpersonal skills including active listening, emotional de-escalation, patience and compassion.

  • Ability to work both independently and in a dynamic, cross-functional team structure

  • Ability to manage and work through change in a proactive manner.

  • Prior experience in social services field, preferably one serving victims of violence and their families and/or counseling crisis intervention.

  • Effective computer skills and knowledgeable about program to provide telehealth services.

  • Knowledge and sensitivity to issues affecting victims of gender-based violence, their families and he community

  • Excellent verbal, written and written communication skills.

  • Professional appearance and ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters related to the agency/ program and positive comminutions with staff, interns, volunteers and the community.

  • Bilingual skills in English/Spanish preferred

  • Participate in mandatory 66 hours of training in domestic violence and sexual assault training programs
