Outreach Coordinator for Solar Non-Profit
Founded during the 2001 California energy crisis, GRID Alternatives’ (www.gridalternatives.org) mission is to make renewable energy technology and job training accessible to underserved communities. GRID Alternatives provides these services exclusively to low-income households, including families, seniors, and persons with disabilities. We install solar electric systems for low-income homeowners with volunteers and job trainees, enhancing long-term housing affordability for low-income households by reducing their energy costs, and expanding economic opportunity by providing skills and training in the growing field of solar electricity.
We are looking for a full-time Outreach Coordinator to partner with local agencies and work directly with low-income clients within targeted communities to assist in the process of applying for the program and increase the number of clients served.
Position Duties
- Implement outreach strategy to increase low-income client base in targeted areas throughout the Central Valley Region. Along with Operations and Outreach Manager, responsible for meeting aggressive goals for increasing number of clients served
- Responsible for all aspects of client application process including outreach, screening, home site visits, educating families about solar and the details of our program, walking clients through the application process and assisting them with all related paperwork
- Help create and maintain partnerships with affordable housing developers, local government agencies, and community-based organizations in order to more effectively identify, encourage, and serve low-income clients
- Educate homeowners on the benefits of solar and deliver client training sessions
- Develop partnerships with local energy efficiency service providers and assist with building partnerships with job training organizations
- Train and manage volunteers helping in outreach and translation efforts
- Opportunity to teach volunteer training sessions
- Responsible for increasing community awareness and acceptance of GRID Alternatives’ work and mission, including attending and presenting at community meetings and events
- Provide in-house training and information to staff and board to deepen the organizational understanding of communities’ concerns, problems, and desires
